A Plus Market is starting 2015 with a bang! Having outgrown the original Darebin venue in the first year of business, A Plus Market will be held at Darebin’s own cultural hub, The Darebin Arts and Entertainment Centre on Sunday, February 22, 2015.
The brainchild of local mum, Erin Cox A Plus Market is the only of its kind in Australia; a regular community market specifically for plus size women. New designs are showcased along pre-loved fashions with each and every piece offered being a ‘plus size’. This fresh take on a fashion market hits all the right chords with its ‘Shop sustainably and ethically’ ethos, community and body positive attitude.
As a 'plus size' woman herself, Ms Cox explains “Years of shopping disappointments left me discouraged. I found myself wishing for a place where I could find bargains and one-off pieces in my size – but there just wasn't anywhere – so, I’ve decided to do something about it.”

With the average Australian women identifying as ‘plus size ‘ there is a huge demand for alternative shopping experiences. The overwhelming response A Plus Market received in its first year is testament to this.
Ms Cox states “Women are delighted, many approaching me in tears, hugging me, rejoicing that they now have a welcoming community and a myriad of fashion choices”
Australian plus size women are also becoming more and more discernible in their fashion tastes; demanding quality fabrics, fashion forward designs, ethical and sustainable choices - A Plus Market has been created to meet these needs; showcasing the wonderful independent Plus Size designers emerging from our own backyard alongside women from the community recycling their pre-loved fashions.
