We are on the hunt for a chicken coop, raised cubby house or other type shed structure for our planned chicken adventureland in our yard. If you have something you're not using anymore or had been meaning to get rid of we can come dismantle it, we're excited to get some chickens as soon as we can.
I'm a social worker and a single mum of a 4 year old boy looking to settle in the Newlands area. What I've seen of this blog, the Merri creek, MECCARG & the school really inspire me.
If anyone is thinking of selling soon and wants to bypass real estate agents fees, please give me a call.

The Coburg Quest
8-29th November 2015
A project as part of MoreArt
The Coburg Quest is an interactive treasure hunt through hidden venues in Coburg, where participants meet gatekeepers of secrets, uncover clues and solve riddles. The Coburg Quest is part of MoreArt, 2015, and will run from the 8th to the 29th of November, with a final quiz on the 29th. It’s free, ideal for families, and anyone can participate by signing up at www.thecoburgquest.com
The Coburg Quest seeks to bring together different facets of the suburb in a mixed bag of activities. Through the week, participants will be SMSed ‘green’ challenges which spark a personal artistic practice in their immediate surrounds, and on weekends will receive ‘red’ challenges which take them further afield in the suburb. Participants might throw boomerangs in the morning with the Victorian Chapter of the Australian Boomerang Association, visit historical sites opened especially for the Quest, or eat delicacies at secret cafes . Clues and riddles scattered through the ‘red’ challenges will trigger questions for the end of Quest Quiz where one team will be crowned the Queens of Coburg.
We are hoping to tap into Newlands creative side. Our friends at the Valley Design Market are looking for stall holders for their upcoming event on Sunday 15 November in Flemington. They have had an overwhelmingly big response from market goers, and have decided to make room for some more stalls.
If you are an artist, jewellery maker or avid crafter get in contact with the Valley Design Market team at email@example.com
Today marks the beginning of Children's Week: a time we set aside each year to celebrate the rights of children to enjoy their childhood in peace, freedom and safety. Most of us take this for granted but some are not so lucky.
Right now there 202 children who are being denied a childhood while locked up in Australian immigration prisons. We know this harms children, yet our Government keeps them locked there regardless.
Malcolm Turnbull has the power to let them out.
This Thursday across Australia we are joining in a day of solidarity for children in detention. Together we are calling on Prime Minister Turnbull to do the right thing and let kids in detention be free to have a childhood.

Looking for a fridge.......
Our day started with a challenge, the contents of our fridge lukewarm instead of chilled. ....so now we are looking for another chilling machine!
If you are upgrading and looking to sell your old fridge I would be very happy to hear from you as I imagine the kindness of neighbours and the novelty of the esky will wear off soon!
Our fridge 'hole' is 65cm wide with no height restriction. My preference is for one in good condition with all the right bits attached (doors, shelves etc)
Please contact Sam on 0418 415 383.
You are invited to join us for any or all activities. Please see attached program and enrol by phone, email or drop in to see us at either house.

Darebin Says No To Racism community forum.
In the light of recent ugly events including the racist booing of AFL legend Adam Goodes, anti-Muslim rallies and the registration of a new sophisticated anti-Muslim political party, the Darebin Ethnic Communities Council and Voices against Bigotry have initiated a community forum about racism. The forum is supported by Darebin City Council as part of Community Safety Month.
The forum will hear from Aboriginal, Muslim and African speakers about their experiences of racism and gather ideas to counter it by creating a more inclusive atmosphere in our local area. To get involved, for more information or to stay in touch on these issues, contact firstname.lastname@example.org or sign up to the newsletter list at www.voicesagainstbigotry.org
