This could be a long shot but worth a try!
I have a brand new tin of Aptamil Gold formula for 6-12 months which I opened just yesterday. Husband accidentally bought the wrong formula - my little Bub is allergic to dairy and Aptamil does contain dairy. She had a reaction to it so unfortunately we cannot use it again.
Giving it away for free, if anyone's keen.

Counsellor

Untitled-2

Your local counsellor Rachael has some spaces available at the moment.

Sometimes we all need a bit of support, someone to help us to process what is going on, to help us to listen into that wisdom that is within each of us.

I understand that counselling can be that extra cost that we can manage along without or we have one session  - that gives us some insights but we really need more.  With this in mind Rachael has a special offer for up to 2 people.  Commit to 6 sessions (you are welcome to wait to commit till after the first session) and pay only $40 per session (normally $80 or $60 concession).  Sessions must be taken before the end of September, and at a mutually agreed time between 10am and 3pm. (offer not available to out of hours sessions).

To find out more about Rachael’s sessions please visit http://www.s-e-l-f.com.au/counselling/

Rachael also offers one on one mindfulness and meditations sessions where you can learn and practice mindfulness and meditation skills to fit your life and current needs.

Please contact Rachael – details below to take up this offer.

Recommendation

Untitled-2

Earlier this week I bought some new school shoes for my daughter Bronte from a very local shoe shop called Fabsport http://www.fabsport.com.au/

I bought some really great shoes at a reasonable price and was served by a very friendly woman. I was so happy not to have to go to a big shopping centre type place!

I got an even better price because Newlands Primary School is part of their fundraising program.

If you need kids shoes, it's worth the very short trip.

They are located at 111B Spring St, Reservoir VIC 3073

A winter warmer to thaw your aching soul. Stationary Suns will activate their magick shields after the Curse spin their mystical musical web of sonic pleasures for you and you are visited by the sprawling delights of Popolice, Bitumen, Is There A Hotline? ...  & Querty to kick it all off! Book the babysitter NOW!

Stationary Suns: A combination of fast paced drumming, tasteful shredding and high pitched vocals. The band features members of Love of Diagrams, Spider Vomit, Hissey Miyake and Acid Casualty. They are about to release a self titled 7" on members' Mai and Lei Gryffydd's record label, Identical Records. https://stationarysuns.bandcamp.com/

The Curse: Now in their 4th incantation, The Curse have been described as, “supporting their local girl gang while jangling through psychedelic femme rock waves towards stardom.” At the heart of the charm is Phoebe Robertson (Secret Valley, The Olsen Twins) surrounded and accompanied by Eira Gilan, Olivia Hittmann and Mia Schoen. Feeling like they’ve played every venue in Melbourne this year (or at least 10 of them) this girl gang has been warming up for the release of their EP later in the year. https://soundcloud.com/the-curse-girl-gang

Popolice: Intuitive, loud and otherworldly super-pop which oozes out of one man band Marc Regueiro-Mckelvie. It may be a drum machine and samples with guitar and vocals ... but Popolice really know how to crash the scene ...

Bitumen: One of the hottest new upstarts in Melbourne-town!

Is There A Hotline?: Jen Tait and Jen Callaway make atmospheric post-punk space rock featuring percussion, analogue synth, electric thumb piano, various objects and alien-siren vocals and wails.

Qwerty:  A band that doesn't play keyboard even though they're named after one. Made up of two siblings and some guy they met on instagram. They probably take more band selfies than they have songs ... https://www.facebook.com/qwertyhelpdesk/

Approximate set times:
7:10 - 7:40: Qwerty
7:55 - 8:15: Is There A Hotline?
8:30 - 9:00: Bitumen
9:15 - 9:45: Popolice
10:00 - 10:30: The Curse
10:45- 11:15: Stationary Suns

FINAL CALL OUT:
2016 Moreland Summer Show Applications

DEADLINE: FRIDAY 5 AUGUST 5 PM

The Moreland Summer Show is an annual exhibition showcasing the diverse
and creative talent of visual artists with strong connections to the City of
Moreland. The theme for this year’s exhibition is ‘FACTIVISM’.
It will run 11 November - 10 December.

FACTIVISM: News, information and opinion are never far out of reach. We are
saturated with headlines, images, slogans, sound bites and signs but often lack
facts. Facts are powerful, yet they can be cherry-picked and spun.
How are facts verified? How do we form our view? What banner should we flock to?
What is the right cause? How do we put the truth to work?

If you are an artist who lives, works, studies or bases their studio practice in the
municipality, visit the website to download an information pack:

Friends of Edgars Creek

Untitled-2

Hi FoEC'ers and Friends,

We are primed to get our hands into the dirt again this Sunday.

I don't have a heap of information on this planting like I normally would as it is organised by Moreland City Council and for those that know our usual scheduling - it is not 1-3PM!!!. Some brief details are as follows:

Sunday 31 July 2016, 10.00am–12.30pm. Planting: National Tree Day with Moreland City Council – along the fence line heading up the escarpment from the Kodak bridge. Hosted by the Moreland City Council (Phone Vince [MCC] on 8311 4386). Meet at the Kodak bridge/escarpment area, west side of the creek – from Danthonia St (Melways Map 18 A8).
There will be a BBQ after the planting and this will likely be set up near the Kodak bridge on the west side of the creek.
On another topic - FoEC members have been offered discount tickets to a  Q & A panel/theatre production. I've copied details as I received them into the email below. Note the closing date for the discount and the need for the discount code:
Creating a Climate For Change, Melbourne Playback’s next Q&A panel event is rapidly approaching; an event proudly presented in partnership with Darebin Climate Action Now. As a friend or member of a local sustainability group, we have an early bird ticket offer for you. Creating a Climate For Change will explore climate solutions, action, and what it means to live in a warming world. Intertwining theatre performance with Q&A panel discussion, the event will be looking at how current climate solutions can change our lives and communities in positive ways. Theatre will offer a unique way to find the humour and humanity when looking at an issue that we all very much share.
We bring together three panelists who all implement practical solutions on a daily basis through their work:
Professor Rob Adams AM, Director City Design and Projects, City of Melbourne. Rob approaches urban planning and design through the lens of making Melbourne a more pleasant place to live in ways that greatly reduce the city’s climate footprint, in part by reducing reliance on cars. His design contribution also prepares for climate change by greening (and thereby cooling) the city.
Lucy Best, Communications and Community Engagement Manager with Positive Charge. Lucy works with businesses, households and government – to reduce emissions, save money and be more energy independent.
Dr Stephen Bygrave, CEO of Beyond Zero Emissions, a Melbourne based think-tank. Stephen works on research and education of big-picture plans for how Australia can rapidly move to zero emissions. He works with councils and other groups on making the transition rewarding and highly achievable.

About that early bird price – we are offering $5 off full price tickets and all concession tickets student prices, for the next week for our friends and subscribers only. Offer expires Sunday 31st July.

When: Thursday 11th August

Where: Northcote Town Hall, 189 High Street, Northcote.

Tickets: $25 / $18 ($20 full $15 concession with subscriber code: 350)

BOOK HERE

Here’s some of the feedback on a recent Melbourne Playback Q&A panel event:
“Playback theatre is certainly not your usual black box theatre experience, but if the standing ovation that MPTC received at the end of this provocative performance is anything to go by, it is an incredibly rewarding one.” - Theatrepeople (SticksnStones - May, 2016)
This event is proudly supported by Darebin Council’s Community Support Program.
The event is run on a non-profit basis.

Hello,

We have lost our much loved dog Spindle.

She went missing from out back yard in Headley St Coburg North late Sunday afternoon.

She is very friendly and energetic. She has a red collar with a blue tag, is black and grey with a white chest and has medium length hair.

She is microchipped, but it is sometimes unable to be read.

Please let us know if you have seen her anywhere.

We are desperately trying to find her.

Little Dog Found :(

Untitled-2

I've just seen a deceased little dog on the corner of Murray Rd & Jackson St and thought someone may be looking for it.

An older looking white, black & brown terrier with a black collar but no tag.

Looked to be a well cared for and loved pet :(

Very sad, looks to have recently been hit by a car.

My sympathies to the owner.

Exhibition

Untitled-2

Story Island: an adventure in pictures at Glenroy Library from 29 July to 10 September 2016.

The Glenroy Library is host to Story Island: an adventure in pictures, a beautiful exhibition and reading experience for young children designed to promote early literacy skills and the joy of children and parents reading together.

Story Island draws from the world-renowned Scholastic Dromkeen Children’s Literature Collection held at State Library Victoria, and brings together works from some of Australia’s favourite children’s book authors and illustrators to create a visually striking and interactive exhibition.

The exhibition features four custom-made pods which evoke stories of the bush, the city, bath and bed time and offer children a space for reading, imaginative sharing, learning and exploring stories and pictures together with their parents or carers.  This special exhibition fosters a love of books and reading, and suggests ways for parents and carers to support and develop a child’s literacy from infancy which is so important. It is also a lovely experience for children and parents alike.

Throughout the exhibition questions and activities are suggested to encourage discovery and exploration with friends and family. The exhibition is also accompanied by a children’s exhibition booklet and activities for children and carers as-well-as book lists for children 0-8 years.
Story Island: an adventure in pictures is a free exhibition at Glenroy Library, 737 Pascoe Vale Road, Glenroy from 29 July to 10 September 2016.
