Newlands Friends of the Forest

Untitled-2

Good afternoon wonderful Newlands Forest Folk.

We are starting to ramp up our campaign and there is a lot happening from this week and we would love & appreciate your support - just contact us and let us know what you are interested in coming and helping out with.

Newlands Friends of the Forest Events

1. Threatened Species Day Preston Station Thursday 7 September 7.30 am (morning:)  Meeting at Preston Station to let commuters know about threatened species day and have some fun at the same time !!! There's also Threatened Species Day event organised by FOE that on the Steps of the Victorian Parliament  at 5.30pm which we will be supporting and would love to see you there.

2. Dinner Planning session in Newlands on Wednesday 13 September 6pm
We would love your input! Bring a plate of food to share  Let us know if you can come.

3. Meeting with Robin Scott Preston MP Friday 15 September at 10am.
We have a meeting scheduled for next Friday with Robin and would love it if you could join us.  If you can't make it, it would be fabulous if you contact his office to arrange another time to meet. Cath and I have met Robin Scott three times now and would be happy to assist your planning prior to the meeting. It really is quite empowering, to exercise our democratic right and we have found Robin Scott to be personable and interested in what we have to say.  As Finance Minister he's been particularly interested in the economic arguments.

   4. Fun iterative tall tree display at Preston Market - Saturday 16 September 8am - 3pm
Local artist Sue Matayas created a beautiful installation, showing the scale of our tall mountain ash trees, and we will be creating some of our special threatened species for people to put their own Greater Glider or Leadbeaters possum in the tree together with a species quiz and prizes .... following from the fun at the Really Really Free Market -
We're seeking some Newlands Friends of the Forests volunteers to help for an hour or so  and perhaps to take some photos and add to the community vibe.  A great place to invite family and friends to come and find out more
Could you help? It will be fun!

Thanks for your consideration and support to do what we can from Preston and Northcote to help protect Victoria's native forests and their communities.
