Im waiting for a permit to renovate my kitchen and bathroom, so hopefully will start the demolition in the next 3 weeks. I hope your renovations go well, Charmaine. I have recently renovated one of these local mid-1940s houses, and am delighted with the result. It was challenging at times because they were well built and built to last: double brick walls, concrete underfloor beams, hard plaster render on the interior walls, solid wood timber fittings, heavy iron and terracotta pipes, etc.. The builder workd hard!
ReplyDeleteI love these houses and am always glad to see that they are receiving the TLC they deserve, and that their character is being preserved.
If you would like to see some pics of what you will find under the floors, let me know as I kept a photographic record of what was happening (much of it of the poor plumber who spent a lot of his time under the house).
