We have recently installed a composting system at Newlands Primary School and have plenty of compost bins but have somehow lost the lids!

Please text Mel if you have a spare lid lying around that you could donate.

MECCARG - Merri Murnong

Untitled-2

This Saturday, June 2rd 1-3pm, at the MECCARG - Merri Murnong Patch

This months activity focus is murnong and lilies.

This Saturday we will plant some into the patch but we will be mainly potting up into styrofoam boxes for fostering.
This is to fatten up Murnongs (yam daisies), bulbines lilies, blue grass lilies and milkmaids, which all are edible tuberous species we eat in November after roasting them in earth ovens.

They are all harvested the day before the celebration of the'10th Murnong Gathering' on 11th November 2018.
The day we dig them up is an amazing insight into the secrets of these fascinating plants and being involved develops a strong connection to the celebration the following day. Please come along this weekend to help and put the Celebration on the 11th November into your calendar

All you require is some curiosity about these plants and readiness to get your hands dirty (gloves provided).
Look forward to seeing you and having cuppa afterward.
Hope to see you there!

The Taggart’s team is excited to announce the launch of our C.S.A.

It also allows you to continue buying you meat guilt free and gives you a greater connection to where your meat comes from. You even receive a small discount compared to buying our boxes.

There will be 3 options available to best suit your needs and budget. Subscriptions can be paid upfront or on a monthly basis.  Each pack option will receive all the cuts over the course of a year in varying quantities dependent on pack chosen.

FREE CUPBOARD/LINEN PRESS

This cupboard is out in the front yard of 8 Butters St Reservoir.

If the painters are there, let them know that you are happily taking it home. If no one is there, just go for it before they call the skip.

The door opens and closes. Hinges all fine. Lock works and the key is still present.

A perfect fit for the narrow hall of any local red brick house (or 50's style house).

If you would like a hand to lift it onto your vehicle, call/txt 0407 934 525 and if I am at home I will pop round and give you a hand.

Hi Newlanders,

A friend is looking for a cabinet to use in her animation project. She needs a glass-fronted cabinet for a couple of weeks. Ideally, it would be small, about 170cm high (it will hold some miniature models of animals). Old is preferable but new is okay too!

The image shows some possible examples of what she could use. She is happy to take it off your hands or just borrow it.

If you would like to know more about Scarlet's wonderful project have a look here: museumforthedead.wordpress.com

You can contact Scarlet directly on 0432 335 646 or s.sykeshesterman@gmail.com

Seeking Ideas

Untitled-2

SEEKING RENOVATION IDEAS FOR BRICK DUPLEX!

Hello, we are looking to open up the kitchen area of our brick duplex. The aim is to stay within the current footprint and incorporate the great north facing aspect with a passive solar design. The trick is where to place the loo, aside from in the tiny bathroom.

If you know/are an architect/draughtsman who likes the challenge of small spaces, please get in touch.

If you have a duplex and have discovered an inventive way of placing the loo and would be willing to share your design, I would love to bake you a cake/pie and come for a tour.

Cheers, Melisa.

THANK YOU NEIGHBOURS

A big thank you to everyone who reached out to support my dear neighbour a few weeks ago. Your generosity contributed to easing the pressure in a most difficult time. At present, the family has put everything into storage, they are staying with a relative and still applying for rental properties. Thanks again.

Hello, Newlands and beyond,

There is a pile of coffee grinds in the driveway of 16 Spring St. Coburg.

Veggies and fruit that like acidic soil include radishes, sweet potatoes, parsley, peppers, potatoes, rhubarb, blueberries, cranberries, currants, elderberries, and gooseberries.

You're welcome to help yourself during daylight hours as there is more than I and the neighbours need.
