Rock the Coburg RSL

Untitled-2

No pokies, no frills, just good honest wood paneling and hand-painted signs.

We'll be kicking off the Coburg RSL Band Night series on 17 May 2014 with New Estate, Velcro, Grrr! & Dusken Lights PLUS, it has just been confirmed that Mrs Barb Wire herself will be MC for the night!!

8pm
Family-friendly, Indie, Alt-Folk outfit, ‘DUSKEN LIGHTS’ will open the night with their sweetly melodic songs of love, loss and yearning. They make a subtle and atmospheric kind of music using mostly acoustic elements such as brushed drums, guitar and the warm interplay of male/female vocal harmonies ... AND they have the CUTEST video ever:http://www.duskenlights.com/video

9pm
Grr! are hard to peg. They claim high rank in the foggy valley where psychadelia, poetry and early punk meet. Expect high drama.
See: FB /CougarVox

10pm
Velcro (Why Don't You believe Me Records) is doleful, soulful, lonesome bedroom and lo-fi electro. With intricate connections to oh-so-many young happening bands on the scene it is impossible to capture them all, but with links to Ocean Party, Zone Out, Hobby Farm and MORE. Have a listen at soundcloud link below and come see, come see!

11pm
New Estate (Chapter Records) have been rockin' around for yonks! Each song they play is like its own world with its own lexicon and scenery. The overall sound varies from 'propulsive pop explosions to sprawling guitar epic territory'. They are ... just great.

Newlands Primary School Trivia Night

Hi Folks.
Newlands Primary School are holding a trivia night on Friday October 26 at the Kastoria Club up the top of Elizabeth St. It is looking like being an excellent evening and we hope to get lots of locals along. I have a feeling it is not going to be a 'run of the mill' trivia night.

If you can't get together a table of 10, you can be put on a table with others.

We hope to see you there.
