Movement Choir
Dear friends, followers and supporters,
It is with great pleasure and excitement that I present you this new community project I will be working on together with local spoken word and martial artist Anita Carcour.
The project seeks to engage women and non binary citizens of Moreland of diverse age, cultural backgrounds and abilities to explore and reflect on the history of our community as kept and stored in our bodies through expressive movement, dance and martial arts.
The project will take place over four weekly sessions led by Rosa Voto, dancer, vocalist and cultural educator, and Anita Carcour. The sessions will blend elements of traditional southern Italian dances, dance theatre and martial arts movement and will deal with themes of power and force, liberation and relationship between body, soul and place.
The first Movement Choir in Moreland will be formed during the journey and a showing will be offered to the community at the end of the cycle of sessions.
Participation is FREE to women, people identifying as women and non binary people.
An information session will be held on Saturday 20th of February, 11 am,
in the foyer of Palace Cinema, in Pentridge.
Please RSVP so we can keep the number under control according to Covid-safe measures.
This project is supported and funded by the Moreland City Council Community Grants Program.
Please do not hesitate in contacting me anytime should you be interested in participating or have any questions.
You can find out more on our facebook page:
or on Instagram: @Pentridge Tells Movement Choir
And please, feel free to pass it on to whomever you think may be interested!
