Working with the outer world to reveal the inner, the artists in BACKDROP invert the tradition of Western landscape painting to study its objectification and respond to the landscapes that have shaped them, while in A TREE’S WORTH the five artists look at the ways language frames the ways we see the world – questioning paradoxes of language and exploring the role data may play in the human journey of listening to trees while simultaneously celebrating their ‘worth’ in society.” BACKDROP and A TREES WORTH open at 2 pm on Saturday 27th April at the Counihan Gallery In Brunswick. Recognising the establishment of the Ovens Street Studio the four founding members - Angela Cavalieri, Robert Hollingworth, Douglas Kirwan and George Matoulas celebrate a double decade milestone of their own in Twenty One Today with recent and key works. The call for proposals is now open for the 2017 exhibition program at the Counihan Gallery In Brunswick. 

The call for proposals is now open for the 2017 exhibition program at the Counihan Gallery In Brunswick. Artists and curators are invited to submit proposals for projects that can be developed and achieved in the next year. We welcome innovative ideas and critical approaches to art practice. As a 2017 ART+CLIMATE=CHANGE Festival venue partner, the Gallery welcomes proposals with strong links to environment, ecology and surrounding debates and issues that might be considered as a festival exhibition early in the calendar year. A free information session detailing the Counihan Gallery In Brunswick exhibition application process will be held at the gallery on Tuesday 17 May at 6 pm followed by a Q&A session.
