Clothes Swap!

Untitled-2

The next Newlands Clothes Swap is coming up on Saturday, March 2 at 2.00 in Cox Reserve.

This is a really lovely, long-standing community event that has been running for more than 10 years!

We all get together in the park and bring everything (not just clothes) that we no longer need, put everything into piles, wait until everyone is ready, and then everyone takes what they want.

If you are up to contributing $5.00, this will then go to a local family in need but you don't have to pay anything to join in.

Leftovers get delivered to op shops about the place.

Please join us at the next one:

Saturday, March 2 @ 2.00 in Cox Reserve.

Community Action

Untitled-2

Hi Residents of Melbourne's North,
We are horrified at the proposal industrial incinerator in Melbourne's North
We need to act urgently!  Please do pass this on to others.
There is so much research showing that greenwashed 'Waste to Energy' Industrial Incinerators produce toxic waste and carbon emissions - which we particularly don't want within just a few kilometers of homes and communities.
Can you attend the EPA's in-person information session Saturday 2nd of March at 10am?  Or find a friend to attend?  This session will not be attended by Cleanaway who want to build and run the Incinerator - but will let the EPA know we are on the case.
For more information see the important article on the proposal written by John Englart for Climate Action Merribek.  It gives you background information - why it's such a bad idea environmentally and socially and handy hints on writing a submission (one of the actions we encourage folk to take).
To find out more do talk to the good folk at Climate Action Merribek who will be at the Sydney Road Festival or otherwise reply to this email if you can make some time to help stop this Incinerator.
In outrage & care.

House Sitter Available!
Hey Newlanders,
If anyone is needing house and pet sitting in the next while I am available in March, April, and May.
I am very, very clean and I don’t smoke and won’t have parties!
I just need enough space to roll out my yoga mat and a comfy couch to read books.
I work full time but will be able to walk, feed, cuddle, and care for any and all fur or feathered creatures.
Call if this sounds like a fit for you.

Bikes

Untitled-2

Stolen bikes - can you help?

Both our kids’ bikes were unfortunately stolen from their primary school. If anyone has a spare bike they don’t need for a few months, we’d love to borrow it. Particularly it’d be great to borrow one for our pretty tall 9-year-old.

Thanks a lot!
