rsvp now

Many of Australia’s dirtiest gas expansions are planned for the NT and big polluters are about to start digging on land and at sea.

Traditional Owners need our help to pressure the Albanese Government to block handouts for these projects and call them in for assessment under our nature laws.

MC’d by Environment Centre Northern Territory's Executive Director Kirsty Howey, this town hall will bring together local climate and nature advocacy groups from across Naarm (Melbourne).

Let’s unite as people who care deeply about protecting our wonderful, natural world. Let’s raise our voices so they’re louder than those of the big gas polluters.

Come to the urgent community forum, listen to voices from the frontline of the climate crisis in the NT, and join us in calling on the Albanese Labor Government to protect Country and climate!

I'll be there

We look forward to seeing you there! For the protection of Country, water and our climate,

Protest

Protest @ Moreland Council meeting
Restore funding for climate action

Date: Wednesday 13 August
Time: Meet promptly at 6.30pm for 7pm start to council meeting.
If you want to ask a question in the council meeting, you need to get there before 7pm to put your name down to ask a question

Venue: Glenroy Senior Citizens Centre
11 Cromwell Street, Glenroy
(8 minute walk from Glenroy train station on Craigieburn Line)
To get there from Coburg, catch the #513 bus from Bell St, Coburg to Glenroy Station
The 9 July council meeting axed $100,000 from the Moreland Council’s 2014/2015 budget for climate action. The cut is likely to mean that the planned solar power system for the Coburg Leisure Centre will not proceed.
Originally, it was proposed that $525,000 be allocated to the council’s carbon management budget. This money was to fund the expansion of the council’s solar PV program on council buildings as well as energy efficiency measures.
Moreland council’s carbon management strategy only began in 2011.
A Climate Action Moreland public meeting of 80 people on 7 August voted to call on the council to restore the $100,000 to the carbon management strategy.
Join the protest outside the next Moreland Council meeting to let the councillors know that you want the $100,000 restored to fight climate change.
If you can’t attend the council meeting, send an email to all of the councillors:
