4. Pickup your plants from my house in Coburg between 20th - 24th December
5. Make your heart happy knowing that 100% of the profits from the fundraiser will be used to help cover the University fees of two very amazing OrphFund boys.

Free Nandina shrubs

Hi all
I have just pulled up two nandina shrubs which are sitting in my drive looking for a home. They are hardy and change colours across the year. Please take one or both! Sooner rather than later would be advisable as I expect they won't like being bare rooted under the hot sun in the next couple of days.

Hello everyone.

You may have known that Stewart Lodge held its annual plant sale fundraiser this weekend - which was a wonderful success! :)

We have a lot of plants left over and I wanted to offer any community gardens (or individuals) the opportunity to come and buy anything left over for $1 each. There is still a huge selection available of veggies, herbs, flowers, succulents, etc.
If you're interested you can just swing by Stewart Lodge this Tuesday from 9am-12pm. The address is 85 Stewart St, Brunswick.

Indigenous Tubestock For Sale!

Hi Everyone.
After a wonderful afternoon of music, food and shopping at Newlands Primary School Musical Market we still have a few plants for sale.
All of the plants are indigenous tubes from VINC.
We are selling them for $3.00 each or 4 for $10.00.
They are on my front porch and will be available for the next week or so.....
Please leave money under door or in letterbox if no one is home: 29 Peterson Ave North Coburg.
There is quite a selection and the plant descriptions are with the plants also.
Save yourself a trip to Fairfield and shop local!!!!
All the proceeds from the plant sales go towards our continuing indigenous revegetation of the school.

Bracyscome multifida var. multifida

Cut Leaf Daisy

Spreading perennial daisy to 30cm x 40cm.   Lilac to deep purple & yellow flowers most of year, particularly spring.  Grows well in most soils. Full sun.  Very hardy. Appreciates summer watering. Butterfly attracting. 

Calocephalus citreus

Lemon Beauty Heads

Tufted perennial 20 -30cm x 30-60cm. Soft silver-grey foliage and bright yellow flower heads from Oct-Feb. Requires well drained soil and tolerates dryness once established. Suitable for mass planting in the garden or as a container plant. Flowers dry well. 

Chrysocephalum semipapposum

Clustered Everlasting

Clump forming perennial 50x50cm. Golden flowers Sep-Jan.  Prefers dry soil, full sun.  Very hardy & drought tolerant. Prune hard after flowering. Butterfly attracting.

Indigofera australis

Austral Indigo

Delicate, open shrub, to 1.5m x 1.2m.  Mauve-pink flowers Aug-Sept.  Prefers dry soil, semi-shade.  Grows well under trees. Drought tolerant and butterfly attracting.

Kennedia prostrata

Running Postman

Prostrate groundcover to 1.5m wide.  Scarlet-red pea flowers with yellow centres Sep-Dec.  Prefers dry soil once established in full sun to semi-shade. Butterfly attracting. 

Poa labillardieri (Blue Form)

Common Tussock Grass

Large tussock grass, 80cm x 80cm.  Green-purplish flower heads Oct-Mar.  Grows well in most  soils but  appreciates a little summer watering if extremely dry. Full sun. Drought tolerant once established. Butterfly attracting.

Themeda triandra

Kangaroo Grass

Dense, tussock forming grass to 50 x 50cm.  Spectactular, large nodding flower-heads, Sep-Mar.  Grows well in most soils. Foliage becomes reddish-purple in cooler months. Prefers full sun to part shade. Drought tolerant when established. Butterfly attracting. 

Xerochrysum viscosum

Sticky Everlasting

Spectacular biennial/perennial 40cm x 40cm.  Large papery golden-yellow flowers Aug-Apr.  Well drained soil, full sun.  Usually dies back in summer but reshoots in autumn. Prune heavily after flowering. Extremely drought tolerant. Butterfly attracting.

Native hibiscus anyone?

Here’s my first listing for the new blogspot…

Sadly, but also excitedly, my family and I are moving houses away from this amazing community, to lovely green Research. As we are preparing to sell our house, and get our garden in order, we have a lovely 2.5m high native hibiscus, with deep purple flowers, needing a new home. If anyone is interested, it would have to be taken by no later than this coming Sunday 1^st July, with your own transportation.

MERRISTEM CLEARANCE SALE

Hi fermenterrrrs,

Strictly speaking this isn't a ferment event but its a cool opportunity to score some cheap, interesting edibles that may then become fermented PLUS i will have some fermented choko there for you to try and maybe we could come up with some kind of plan to ferment something soon - all initiatives encouraged!!

Merristem Community Nursery is going into hibernation for the Winter and ALL STOCK MUST GO! Next Sunday the 20th of May from 3pm til sundown we will be clearing out the nursery in preparation for new Springtime propagation program and we will be getting rid of ALL plants currently in the hot house. Please invite anyone or groups you know who are involved in a school, community, guerrilla or home garden. Sale is for one day only all donations accepted - any plants left will be composted. All money raised will go towards repairing our irrigation system and kickstarting our new Spring plantings.
