Prom Coast Food Collective is very proud to have our new Farmer on board. It is so difficult to find pasture raised chicken meat but we are lucky enough to have Adam farming right here in South Gippsland. Adam grew up on a dairy farm, loving and admiring cattle and all farm animals. That childhood passion has followed him to try his hand at farming eggs and growing into rearing meat birds. Adam thrives on the connections and community ties that selling his eggs and chicken provides. He is now looking forward to getting to know the Prom Coast customer community. Growing meat chickens is a labour of love, its lucky Adam has a lot of love to give! Welcome aboard! SHOP CHICKEN HERE *
Ok, so we are calling the above bunch of carrots, “should have got two”!
The roast pork I was planning on having these carrots with disappeared with each satisfied crunch and squabbling voices of three kids fighting over the breaking off of the next one. Full of flavour, freshly picked and the colour that draws us all in as the days get that bit darker and more dreary. Thanks Finmaw Farm for making veggies so appealing. How lucky we are!Orders are open and we are so pleased to have you all back. Thank you for rallying and jumping back on board after our hiatus. This next cycle will be delivered on the 8th, 9th and 10th of June. Just in time to be stocked up for the long weekend. With the sunshine and rain, Amelia and the farmers of the Prom Coast

Yoga

Untitled-2

Hey, Yogi’s and Potential Yogi’s,

It can be hard to find the time to look after yourself, but you need to care for your body, it's the only one you’ve got!

Yoga this week at Harry Atkinson Centre (the community hall near Coburg Lake) is going to focus on stimulating your immune system, just in time for winter.

I teach a slow-flow style of yoga for people who want to be gently challenged.

An hour will leave you feeling like you have worked out, but also nicely relaxed.

Came along Thursday at 6.30pm for only $20.

Call/email if you want to know more…

FoEC Planting this Sunday!

Untitled-2

Hi FoEC’ers and Friends,

We have a planting scheduled for this Sunday 21st of May. We will be at the site immediately south of Henty Street and as per our scheduling will be formally 1-3PM with our usual earlier arrival for set-up; early attendees are most welcome to support for as long or as little of your time that you can! Best to park on Allen Street or Hillcroft Street - note that Henty Street is not a safe parking option and despite what Google says, Dromana Avenue and Gumbrae Streets don't actually exist, so no parking there!

The forecast could be better – 16 degrees and a shower or two about so perhaps throw in the waterproof jacket! Please remember to BYO “stuff” including food, and water and wear the right kind of gear of course good footwear is a must; don’t forget your gloves or get one of our pairs from the trailer.

This activity is supported by the Darebin Bushland Crew (Darebin City Council). Many thanks to David Melli and the crew for supplying plants, materials and site prep; we look forward to more activities with you in the years ahead. We have the "new FoEC" amount of plants to get in - only 6 boxes (we previously would do up to 14 and more!).

I think it is great that our event coincides with the last day of International Volunteer Week. It seems a very fitting time to give another shout-out to all of our wonderful volunteers who continue to give their time and energy to help our natural environment! And good on me too as one of those volunteers!

See you on the creek!

Regards,

David.

The Adaptation Game

Untitled-2

TAG (The Adaptation Game) is a playful workshop for Merri-bek residents to connect & help prepare our community to be more resilient to climate change.
The makers of TAG are having a short (15min) film screening followed by a NUCA (Neighbours United For Climate Action) presentation on how to get involved locally in climate action, on Tuesday 30th May at the Brunswick Town Hall 6 - 7.30pm (with catering!).

The film night is a chance to get an understanding of the game and what it hopes to achieve.
The next session for actually playing TAG is Sunday 18th June at CERES (at 10am).
These events are free and sponsored by Merri-bek Council.
