Hi FoEC’ers and Friends,
We have a planting scheduled for this Sunday 21st of May. We will be at the site immediately south of Henty Street and as per our scheduling will be formally 1-3PM with our usual earlier arrival for set-up; early attendees are most welcome to support for as long or as little of your time that you can! Best to park on Allen Street or Hillcroft Street - note that Henty Street is not a safe parking option and despite what Google says, Dromana Avenue and Gumbrae Streets don't actually exist, so no parking there!
The forecast could be better – 16 degrees and a shower or two about so perhaps throw in the waterproof jacket! Please remember to BYO “stuff” including food, and water and wear the right kind of gear of course good footwear is a must; don’t forget your gloves or get one of our pairs from the trailer.
This activity is supported by the Darebin Bushland Crew (Darebin City Council). Many thanks to David Melli and the crew for supplying plants, materials and site prep; we look forward to more activities with you in the years ahead. We have the "new FoEC" amount of plants to get in - only 6 boxes (we previously would do up to 14 and more!).
I think it is great that our event coincides with the last day of International Volunteer Week. It seems a very fitting time to give another shout-out to all of our wonderful volunteers who continue to give their time and energy to help our natural environment! And good on me too as one of those volunteers!
See you on the creek!
Regards,
David.
