Stolen bikes - can you help?

Both our kids’ bikes were unfortunately stolen from their primary school. If anyone has a spare bike they don’t need for a few months, we’d love to borrow it. Particularly it’d be great to borrow one for our pretty tall 9-year-old.

Missing Bike

Hi Newlanders,

We have a very unhappy 8 year old who left his bike in Larkins Reserve on Dunstan St earlier this week. Unfortunately when we went to retrieve it, it seems someone else picked it up ahead of us.

If anyone has picked up a grey/silver Byk 540 x3i in the reserve, we would be keen to get it back, no questions asked.

Wondering if a lost (stolen) bike has been seen maybe around De Chene Reserve, Connolly Ave and Merri Creek area.........?

 

Fair condition adult road bike, grey, scratched (showing metal), black seat and handles, exposed wiring on L gear and hand brake. Can't remember the brand.

Bike not locked up at Coburg High and might have been taken joy riding.

It has a Vic Police sticker on it so I think it's been stolen previously.

ABANDONED BICYCLE

Anyone recognise this bike? It’s a purple Malvern Star “Livewire” kid's bike, (not sure the exact size). Saturday night (17/9) it appeared on my nature strip at the corner of Bruce and James Sts, West Preston (just near cemetery), and was still there on Sunday arvo.  

It looks like it might have been abandoned - maybe stolen from somewhere nearby and dumped?

Riding Skills for Parents + Cycling Confidence – THIS SUNDAY

1-3.30pm at Darebin Arts and Entertainment Centre Car Park

Want to feel more comfortable riding with your kids? This hands-on course is for parents of kindergarten or primary school students. It will cover who rides in front, crossing roads and driveways, road and footpath rules, transitioning from footpath to riding on the road and more. The session will also include a short on-road ride including local shared paths. Also learn tips and tricks for riding on road, indicating, merging and more.

Basic Bike Maintenance – Sunday 1st May

2-4pm Jika Jika Community Centre Northcote

Want to give your bike some love? This interactive beginner workshop covers the basics of how to look after your bike. There will be demonstration and advice on fitting your bike, bike tools and parts, safety checks, puncture repair, tyre pressure, removing and replacing wheels and oiling your chain. Run by a female facilitator.

Posted these bikes a while ago but no takers...really keen to move them on so have dropped the price and open to trades as well. 

Happy to exchange each one for a small box of home produce - love any herbs, lemons, greens, tomatoes etc.

Both are a bit weather worn but otherwise not used a great deal. Red one just needs a bit of oil and puncture repair and will be in good working order. Yellow bike will need new tyres as they are perished. It's older but very sturdy and good quality frame. 

Red bike is standard adult size,  yellow one would suit small adult but probably better for an older child. Has foot brakes only though.

Have one helmet and a basic lock I can throw in too.

$25 each. Collect from Coburg North. Make an offer for one or both!

We want to remember the young cyclist who passed away on Sydney Road.

We are going to ride up Sydney Road to Moreland Road as a quiet memorial.

City of Darebin is offering free bike confidence training sessions for parents of primary school aged children in an effort to encourage families to ride together more.  If you’d like to be more confident about riding with your kids, you might be interested in one of our free hands-on training sessions for parents.
