Now that Mountain Ash is in the nations top 10.

While we love so many of the trees listed - We are asking you to support the Mountain Ash as its forests are Critically Endangered and the source of our drinking water - but are still being logged by our govt. So these forests do need and deserve all the positive attention they can get.

As you could see in this segment, These living forests are so important for Wurundjeri, and so painful to see them being logged. It was then a privilege for Newlands folk to learn this weekend from extraordinary Wurundjeri leader and Woi Wurrung teacher Mandy Nicholson. She and her grandson are deeply connected with the Mountain Ash. Mandy is featured in this episode showing the importance of the Mountain Ash forest at so many levels. Thank you Mandy for your generous leadership.

Make your vote count in Darebin We figure that with 60 candidates running across nine wards you may need a little help sorting out which candidates have a strong commitment to acting on the climate emergency.  Check out DCAN's voting guide for each ward With your support, DCAN campaigned hard in the last council election to win the commitment of candidates to strong action on climate. The newly elected councillors honoured their commitments and moved a motion at the very first meeting to support the declaration of a climate emergency. Council then followed this up with the development of a detailed climate emergency plan.  Stunningly, 1,781 jurisdictions in 31 countries have followed Darebin's example and declared a climate emergency. This has helped raise the awareness of thousands of local communities and political leaders about the urgency of the problem.  Darebin Council has also led the way in forming a national coalition of local councils who are taking action in their own communities.  Check out DCAN's voting guide for each ward. Local Councils are the level of government most connected to the community. Let's make sure Darebin Council continues to be a leader on climate emergency action by choosing our candidates wisely.
