Bread Price Increase (sorry)‏...

Untitled-2

Hi Guys, in one year the price of flour has gone up with 30%!
I have to change the prices of the bread.
But to ease the pain I decided to make olive bread again!
I think the community needs it.
So the new prices are;
Organic white sourdough 800grams;$6
Organic whole meal sourdough 800grams; $6
Sourdough olive bread $7.50
Organic white sourdough baguette $5
Almond and coconut chocolate slice (Gluten free) $10

Another thing; the bakery is going to move to Franklin in Tasmania.
I am happy to keep baking, and I will, but for some of you the trip down might be a bit much on a Saturday morning. This won't happen till January 2014, so please enjoy the bread till then. Enthusiasts could take over this community responsibility; I am happy to pass on my two bobs worth of knowledge!
We will be building a house in the next two years, on Temperance Lane (!) Franklin. Half an hour drive from Hobart. Please come and visit! Sip

Bakery Newsletter

Untitled-2

Hi all, I had a most concerning message there might be regular (non paying) visitors in the bread cabinet.
I have not noticed them, they are fast and sneaky.
These cockroaches, like the smell of bread on the Saturday morning, but we don't want them there, do we?!
So, I will ditch my trusty cabinet and replace it with another one and keep it under the roof, near our front door.
Sorry, a few more steps to your beloved bread. If the door is kept shut, we can keep unwanted visitors at bay.
I still make gluten free coconut/almond cake, and brown or white sourdough bread.
Every Saturday morning, after 9. Pick up at 56 Livingstone street. Orders till Friday noon.

Easter Bread!

Untitled-2

Hello Newlanders.
To have that perfect Easter breakfast next Saturday, you could use a crusty lightly sweetened Easter bread!
And it is all possible at your doorstep! (well, almost, it will be at my doorstep; 56 Livingstone Street).
Please put your order in before Friday noon, and you can pick it up at 9am or earlier on Saturday.
I still make the crusty white sourdough, and the crusty wholemeal sourdough.
The Easter bread will be sourdough, and contain a small amount of sugar and almonds.
And it might look a little bit like the picture….
Prices for the white and wholemeal; $5
Easter bread; $7.50
Orders: mobile 0438175764 (text preferred).
Sip.

Bread is Back!

Untitled-2
Hi everyone!
It's Sip here your local bread baker.
I am baking again after the holiday break.
I bake white and wholemeal wheat bread.
I am not yet sure if I should continue with the olive loafs. There has not been a consistent interest in them.
Baguette requests are always welcome.
Please tell me what your secret bread fantasies are and maybe, just maybe I can make it happen.
Is there a need for sweet bread? Or... oh dear, gluten-free??!

I made a few 100% rye loafs; they taste nice, but better to be used as building material, I say.
I have never made gluten free bread and my fear is that they won't be of the light weight sort either.

Anyway,

White loafs and wholemeal loafs are all organic, slow cured sourdough.
$5 each.
Make your bread order in the form of SMS, text message to 0438175764
before friday noon.
You can pick up your freshly baked loafs from the trusty bread cabinet
at the start of our drive at 56 Livingstone Street, Coburg North.
Every saturday morning after 9 am. You can leave the money in the pot inside.
If you trust me with you mobile number, I will send a little reminder in the morning,
when I put your bread in the cabinet.
And with a little bit of luck we will meet each other for a bit of neighbourhood gossip.

Untitled-2

Hi all.
I rely a lot on my customer mobile numbers for orders and this and thats. I lost all my contacts when my phone broke down. Please when you are one of my bread contacts, could you send me your mobile number with your name?
Thanks heaps.

Wholemeal is back!

Hi all!
I have confidence in my sourdough wholemeal loaf again! I found out
why it didn't rise anymore. And guess what; I have been kneading the
dough too long!! Would you believe. Sourdough can rise too long and
collapse again, there is a 'peak time' for baking.
I never knew but found out the hard way.
And now this; I doesn't like to be treated too vigorously. Tat tat.
Very fussy. A bit like my youngest daughter.
I show you a picture of the loafs before baking. (I know, they are
part of my family).

Note; the two BIG ones on the front are wholemeal...

They were in fact too big for my oven, I have to lower the shelf especially for them. So, the wholemeal is BACK ON THE MENU.I now have 5 good quality bread knives for sale. I will put them out on saturday; $15 each. (20cm stainless steel; brand Aussie Chef)If you need one before then, just text me (0438175764) and I'll put it out.I just thought its not good leaving those blades out on a dead end road near the creek....And see you at the clothes swab?! (or is it cake swab) Sip

Bread update

Hi everyone. Baking bread is never without trouble I must say. I thought I had it under control; now the whole meal breads are not turning out nicely.
If you thought they were a bit dense a.e. brick-like, so do I! I do not know why, the white sourdough loafs behave very differently.
Anyway; I keep working on it and if I am confident, I'll put them back on the menu.
The olive baguettes seem to disappear each time I put out a few extra. I keep baking them, and the olive loafs, but I might vary the recipe here and there.
I have made quite a few errors lately with orders; mix-ups, or forgetting to write down a complete order. (sorry Betty!) I will work on that too, ahum.

I bake a few extra breads/baguettes every week and put the on the top shelf with the text "EXTRA"  This is for anyone who wants to buy it.
(there might be the odd cake soon...)

Bread update

Hi bread lovers of the area. Since I purchased this great 10 litre dough mixer, my bread making life has improved a lot.
I have been making a few weekly extras, olive breads and crusty olive baguettes.
I am using organic flour for all breads; but the olives and sundried tomatoes that go into the olive bread are not organic.
I am still working on this. I needed to know if there is a need/wish for olive bread.
I will make it a regular from now on; so tell me if you like a ;

   >crusty organic white  $5<
   >crusty organic whole meal  $5<
   >crusty semi-organic olive bread  $6<
   >crusty olive baguette  $3.50<

Thursday, 16 August 2012

Hello bread lovers.

I recently purchased (another) dough mixer, this time it will last for
a bit longer hopefully.
This machine will mix it better than I can ever do by hand, and
therefore the breads might be a bit lighter in texture. (same weight
of minimum 800 grams)
I am happily taking more orders for crusty white or crusty sourdough
bread, until friday at 12 noon.
After that I will start the slow process of sourdough fermentation.
(If there are orders coming in after friday 12, I will have to use
bakers yeast.)
If there are wishes for a different kind of bread I would love to hear.
I might introduce a sweet morning tea bread for instance. Ideas are
welcome!
Love Sip

bread

Hello fellow bread lovers.
I have had so much good reactions on my bread baking! Thank you all for that! It really makes it worthwhile getting up for on saturday morning.
I also had some reactions about the bread being too doughy or too yeasty.
I really rely on these reactions; I am still learning and hopefully improving my baking skills.
Another thing I heard was the wish for organic bread.
This saturday I will bake with organic Laucke flour for the first time.
The price of the loafs will stay the same.
So; better quality and organic bread for the same price!
I hope to hear from you. Sip
