This morning I got to the pool at 8am for some lap swimming and it was BEAUTIFUL!! For about 20 minutes I had the pool to MYSELF!!

The Coburg Outdoor Olympic Pool is open for laps on Monday's, Wednesday's & Friday's from 6am-9am during the summer. A wonderful way to start the day!

Check this page to see the up to date opening hours of all the outdoor pools in Moreland  http://www.activemoreland.com.au/aquatic-and-leisure-centres/Outdoor-pool-opening-hours/

Wanted

Untitled-2

Hello, Newlanders.

Does anyone have a child's bike for a 4-year old (less than size 16) that they want to get rid of or sell?

It needs to be in a reasonable condition, thanks!

Weed Killing

Untitled-2

Hello everyone.

I was enjoying walking a pooch alongMerrii creek trail in Fitzroy North (just before Kirkdale Reserve around 9am Friday 29th) when I came upon two men dressed in high vis protective clothing. I asked them if they were spraying and they said yes. I asked them if it was glyphosate and they said yes. I very quickly left the area. I wouldn't want my pooch to become ill and if I had children I wouldn't want them anywhere near the sprayed area, where the spray mist can travel or they could play unknowingly where it was sprayed.

I am quite shocked that this poison and controversial carcinogen is being used in a habitat that is sensitive and, I believe, has been rehabilitated painstakingly over years.

Don't they know how toxic this substance is, to humans, animals, insects and yes, even plants?

Has the UN not banned it yet? Many states in the US and parts of the UK/EU have now banned glyphosate use?

Does the council know there are ecological solutions to killing weeds?

What do people think?

Bush Retreat  Settle and Be

This January 2018, come and join me for some quiet time in the bush as well as an opportunity to connect with other women.
2 day escape to settle and be.
12-13th January 2018.
This 2 day escape to settle and be is not really an escape but an opportunity to distance yourself from your ‘normal’ patterns to reconnect with you and what is important to you.
Take the time to allow the year that has been to settle within you and allow subtly new ways of being to emerge.  Join me for togetherness, aloneness, camping, walking and mineral springs time on the Mornington Peninsula.
Places are limited to 4 women so if you are keen on coming along get in quick.
The cost is $125 plus a contribution for Rachael’s time. This cost includes all food; travel from Coburg, time in the public bathing area the Peninsular hot springs. The $125 must be paid to confirm your place.  Your contribution to Rachael time can be made at this time or at the end of the 2 days.

Untitled-2

Hi - I’ve lost two bantam chickens from 14 Grey court Coburg. Last night. They just moved and might have freaked out and jumped a fence.

One is a speckled light grey/light brown - the other is black.  They have the feathery feet.

We would be so happy if someone found them. Thanks.

Health Professionals Retreat

Untitled-2

Health Professionals - FYI - Early bird prices end December 31st with 2 beautiful cottages left - solo or shared available.

We have some wonderful practitioners committed to joining us for this truly incredible experience in May 2018. It’s going to be just what we all need!
🌟 What we do on the retreat ðŸŒŸ
Respectful to culture, the retreat begins on Sunday afternoon with a traditional Balinese welcome and story share, continues for 6 days and 5 nights, ending at midday on the following Friday.
This is not your standard goal setting, achieve more, make more jobs for yourself, write a list, you’ll be happier/more successful/make more money when you… Ra Ra kind of business mentoring. This is about taking time to stop and listen to your core aches and yearnings. Time to reflect more deeply on how you want to feel, why you do what you do, If you have any dissatisfaction about the way you are working, any sense that you are off the path but not even sure why or how, caught in groundhog day, feel burnt out or a bit resentful about the state of your profession, your patients, your colleagues…or just a bit over it and wondering what’s next and how to make decisions about what to do, then this is definitely for you!
You don’t have to be burnt out either – you could just be starting out and wondering how to find your authentic style and voice in your profession. It often starts with clarity but gets so drummed out by the time we finish our degree we don’t know where to find it! Or know if it is really safe to voice it even.
Every day we explore a series of processes to lead you to clarity of understanding your core values, your purpose, potential and your true authentic voice. That voice that distinguishes you from everyone else in your profession and really sets you apart – and at the same time brings you together, busting that sense of isolation and competition, as you come to see that there really is no competition because no one can ever offer what you offer!
Is it the kind of business/personal development you need? It’s not something anyone else is talking about much for health professionals. There’s so much focus on the clinical side of business generally that this is so often neglected and we think a huge part of why there are such high rates of burnout among health professions.
There is also plenty of time for Q and As and nuts and bolts of business, both with Gill and I as well as the whole group of experience to draw from. How do you…? When do you…? Why do you…? We all have so much to share! I can’t wait for all the juicy discussions around the meal table with so many wonderful practitioners as we drink kombucha and coconut water and pass the plates or organic, garden supplied food around. Bring your notebook and pen to meals for sure as the conversations are as juicy as the organic tumeric jamu!
We start every day with movement and meditation before breakfast. After the workshops, there are many hours off every day to eat INCREDIBLE organic food, lay pool-side, swim, have a massage, walk in the monkey forest, explore the organic food and herb gardens and animals, chat with like-minded practitioners running business, visit a Balinese healer or day spa, stretch, move, meditate, soak up the sunshine and rest in the shade… Mmmmm….
There are only 2 cottages left! Jump on to get your application in now! $500 deposit is required to secure your place.
Or feel free to call me directly for any Qs - Charmaine (Newlands resident and founding director of Fertile Ground Health Group) 0402 102 445.
