Invasion Day Volunteering

Untitled-2

Sign up to volunteer on invasion day in so-called-Melbourne -

Invasion Day is coming up fast and we are looking for people to volunteer both on the day and in the lead-up. Please only sign up if you can commit to helping out, feel free to wait until closer to the date if you are unsure.
The times and roles are not confirmed for what is needed on January 26th, but we expect that many Pay the Rent communicators and collectors will be needed, as well as other roles. We will call you a few weeks/a week before the day to update you and confirm your role.
Which things could you help with in the lead-up to January 26th?
  • Put up Posters
  • Call people who have signed up to volunteer on the day
  • Coordinate volunteers - either on the day or in the lead-up (we can send through more details on what this would look like if you are interested)
  • Research and writing
  • Social and traditional media
  • Reach out to a group/organisation you are part of to get support for invasion day events
If you can help in the lead up to Jan 26 we will get in contact as soon as we can (though we are also volunteers so that might not be immediate!)
Currently, we are looking for volunteers who can attend events in Narrm/Melbourne, though online support can be done from anywhere.

Please fill out this form:

https://forms.gle/ADh58m1TKSjc6GiUA

Please share this form with anyone you know that would be interested in organising on the day, or in the lead up.

Volunteers Needed

Untitled-2

Calling all aspiring natural builders for immediate action!!!

Two volunteer positions.

Two people are wanted to help finish a cob and bush pole structure in the Span Community Garden in Thornbury.

You will be tutored in mixing and applying earthen and lime based renders, sanding timber and applying natural timber finishes. You will learn and assist with paving and potentially some basic carpentry construction as well as site clean-up.

No experience necessary, but if you have it, it’s a bonus.

This is an opportunity to gain hands on experience in natural building and be a part of a fun community project in a welcoming and accessible setting. The nature of the work is rewarding, creative and sometimes meditative, however it also requires a certain physical endurance.

The hours are 9.00am – 5.00pm on the following dates Wednesday 22nd February, Friday 24th February, Tuesday 28th February, Wednesday 1st March, Thursday 2nd March, Friday 3rd March, and Tuesday 7th to Friday 10th March (inclusive).

A strong commitment is needed due to the instruction required and the limited time frame in which to finish the project.

Women, queer and gender diverse people are encouraged to apply.

Please email perri.samone.campbell@gmail.com with a brief paragraph about what you can offer and why you would like to be involved.

For photos of the build see Facebook Span Community House Thornbury Natural Building album.
