Save Peppertree Place

Untitled-2

We have 4-6 weeks to Save Peppertree

This week staff and volunteers of the wonderful Peppertree place were told by Uniting (formerly Unitingcare/Kildonan) were told that they would be closed down within 4-6 weeks.  With the public shut out in 4 weeks. Previously they were being told they would remain open until November.

Time is critical now if we want to save Pepppertree, can you join me in signing this online petition to CEO of Uniting Paul Linosie and sharing it with other friends and family who love the place like you do.

This is a disgrace on the part of Uniting. Leaving remaining staff and volunteers who have spent years dedicated to this organisation with nothing an no support in this time. Many of whom have built up the amazing supportive community through their work with the organisation.

Other things you can do.
  1. Join the Save Peppertree place Facebook group to stay in touch with what is happening day to day.
  2. Come to our next Action meeting at 12.30 on Saturday 18th August at Peppertree place.
  3. If you belong to an organisation that could write a letter of support for Peppertree email us. We have some templates and information to assist us
  4. If you have a location we can have paper petitions out for people to sign please email us to get a downloadable copy.
There is some good news we are growing and growing fast.  Our first meeting 2 and half weeks ago was attended by 12 people.  Then out meeting last Saturday was attended by an amazing 60 people see the picture above, we have over 300 people in our community action Facebook group in a little over 3 weeks.  That is amazing but lets keep growing.

Last night Moreland council unanimously moved a motion supporting Peppertree place being retained for our community.

Moreland leader and 3CR radio are talking about our plight we have to get this out to more people.  But so many of our community value Peppertree and we have people power on our side.  So make sure you share the petition and show Uniting that we want to keep the amazing space they have been able to create for our community.

Open Gate at Peppertree Place in June

With our new neighbours the Coburg Farmers Market opening next door, we have been opening our cafe every Saturday (not just the 1st Saturday of each month) to see what the passing trade would look like - and quite frankly it looks great!! We've been welcoming new visitors and customers who have never been to Peppertree before - never knew we existed (we get that a lot!).

While we appreciate all that our volunteers do to keep this going, we acknowledge that it will be a huge challenge for us to sustain into the future.

SO thanks for supporting our little social enterprise, volunteer powered nursery and popup cafe.
