Thank you so much for your ongoing support of our Giving Voice to Menopause project.

We are delighted to invite you and a friend to the live launch of our film Giving Voice to Menopause on Monday 24th October at 7.00pm at The State Library Theatrette.  Please join us prior to the screening for a glass of bubbly at 6pm at Mr Tulk Cafe .

Many of you saw the film at the online launch in 2021 but the beauty of these women's stories up on the big screen will be a joy to behold. There will also be special guests and some live entertainment to accompany the celebration of the film!

Just a little inspiration to come and help bust the budget this sunday!

Right now, we're organising hard to make the Our Community Counts rally this Sunday a big success, and we've put together a short video to highlight what made the last one so great. We need your help now to get this video out there before the rally on the weekend. Can you share our video with your friends and family?  Over 40,000 people, including union members and community groups, rallied last month against the brutal Abbott budget. That was the start of our protests to bust the budget.  This campaign is built from the grassroots. We are relying on people like you to build it, promote it and own it. Movie Screening

The 2014 Sustainable Living Festival kicks off on February 8th and runs until 23rd and we have a few different events happening in Moreland. Here's our first...

A Twilight picnic and screening of The Growing Food Project

You're invited to a twilight community feast and film screening to celebrate free and fair food in Melbourne. Everyone is welcome!

Food will be prepared by the generous volunteers from Brunswick's own amazing Open Table.

We're hoping to source lots of locally grown fresh food for the feast (more on how you can help with this below).

To cap off the evening we'll have an open air screening of the Growing Food Project a short documentary film that captures a cluster of vibrant stories exploring Melbourne's local food movement and community food initiatives, where people are coming together to build local, fair and sustainable food systems. Written & directed by Rasha Tayeh.

Date: Sunday 9th February

Time: Arrive from 6.30, wander through the food forest and community garden (which feature in the film), dinner will be served from 7pm and the film will be screening between 8-8.30pm

Where: West Brunswick Community Garden, Dunstan Reserve, Behind 49 Everett Street, Brunswick West VIC 3055

BYO: a blanket, something to drink, more of your own food (if you want to), maybe some mozzie repellant just in case

Cost: Nothing (you can make a gold coin donation if you feel like it)

Food Donations: we'd love to use lots of locally produced food for our feast and will happily accept donations of surplus produce.

Open Table will be able to use anything and everything - they are a creative bunch in the kitchen. Miscellaneous veg, greens, herbs, edible flowers, citrus and other fruits, eggs, even honey if someone is rolling in it! Please only share what you have in excess.

We really love giving the fresh produce we haven't used away on the evening in small boxes and paper bags, so there will never be too much!

If you can contribute, please drop your fresh food off at the West Brunswick Community Garden by 2pm on Sunday 9th Feb.

Rites of Passage Premiere- ACMI, 20 0ctober 2013‏

I wanted to let you know about this film Rites of Passage and to see if you would like to come to a screening of it. It's a unique film made by a group of disadvantaged young people about their lives and it's a film that is stimulating a dialogue about what is happening in the lives of young people today. 

The Organisers are bringing some of these young people to the Premiere of the film in Melbourne. I am hoping that you can help us give the young people involved in the making of the film an opportunity to see their film premiere in a real cinema. And give all of us the opportunity to see this amazing looking film in a cinema venue as well! 

The organisers have made a booking at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image and they need to confirm it by the end of September. They need to sell enough tickets to cover the cost of the venue. If we can get behind them and help to sell enough tickets the film will screen at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image. If they don't sell enough tickets, the screening will still go ahead on the date advertised, but it will be screened in a more intimate venue.

If you think it looks worthwhile then we should all invite colleagues and friends and get them to buy tickets and buy them early. The organisers will need to confirm bookings on the cinema a few weeks before the screening.

The films usually start around 9pm in summer. A small BBQ/butane stove will be available as well as free snags.

* Picnic rug/chair if you have one as we'll be sitting on the grass in front of the screen; 
* Food to cook/share before the movie, and snacks to share during the movie. 
* a small fuel stove with pan if you have one and plan to cook. 
* Warm clothing. 
* Don't forget your bike lights. Movie entrance expected to be around $10 or less per person.
