NECCHI

Untitled-2

View this email in your browser
Hi everyone,

As I'm sure you are all aware, we are going into a circuit-breaker 5-day lockdown, more information can be found here
Unfortunately, that means for the next 5 days NECCHi houses will need to close. Both houses will not be open for programs or room use.

We are really enjoying the program so far and were just getting into the swing of it, but we just see this as a brief pause until programs can restart.
We will send a message when programs and room bookings can start up again.

We know it’s difficult to be back in this position, so please take the time to look after yourself and check in with those around you. Beyond Blue is there for support via online messaging or phone call. Food relief can be found on the Moreland Council website.

Hopefully we can see you all again in the houses soon.

Thanks,
The NECCHi Team
Please get in touch with us via email if you any queries or concerns

Neighbourhood House Program

Hi
Our program will be hitting your letterboxes in the coming weeks and you'll see loads of projects and programs that have been the result of some awesome community ideas and action during covid.

We love that you love gardening and cooking and building social change in our world - you can see this reflected in the wide range of programs. Scroll below to book for our activities and see all that's on offer. You can also see the printed program here featuring the beautiful artwork by Claire Mosley.

We believe everyone should be able to access our program, we have flexible payment options and some no fee places so please get in touch.

Join us at Newlands Neighborhood House on the 13th of Feb from 2-5pm as we start this year paying our respects to the traditional owners of the lands in which we work, live and grow. Alongside a Wurundjeri Elder we will take the time to reflect on the year that has past and the way that we can understand country through the Aboriginal Seasons. We will also celebrate the launch of the NECCHI Community Garden Series.

This is just the start of all the things in the NECCHi houses over the coming months - stay tuned for more updates on our Facebook and Instagram or drop in!

We're looking forward to seeing you soon - our rooms are open for booking again, apply here if you need a space.

Neighbourhood House

Untitled-2

It's been a long and wild year and it's been a long time since we've seen many of your faces! Although our neighbourhood houses are open for bookings, our classes have been mostly online for quite a while and we have missed seeing you all in person.

Now restrictions are finally allowing us to ease up and celebrate a little, we're inviting you to join us for our end of year open day!

Come along and say hi to the team - we will have kids crafts, planting workshops with Shan and Fi, a mural painting in progress by local artist Melissa Murphy, and things to eat and drink (with food by the amazing Niro from Tamil Feasts).

When: Friday 18th December 2020
Where: East Coburg Neighbourhood House, 32 Nicholson Street Coburg
Time: 3pm to 7pm

RSVP so we can make sure we have enough food and seedlings to plant - you can register via WeTeachMe here.

Hope we see you there!

Neighbourhood House Soft Opening

Untitled-2

We are so delighted to be back in our houses and can’t wait to see you all again!

From Tuesday 17th November, we will be open for room bookings and drop-ins from 10 - 4pm, Tuesday – Friday.

To keep COVID-safe we have implemented new procedures that abide with government guidelines. These procedures include:
  • That you will need to sign-in at the entrance to both houses.
  • Each room will have a maximum number of people allowed - there is a notice outside each room and staff will be able to let you know the limits for each room. Please check when you contact or enter either house and make sure your group doesn't exceed the maximum number.
  • Anyone entering the houses will need to wear a mask and sanitise their hands before entry.
  • Anyone who has recently been in contact with someone positive for COVID-19, who is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, or who is sick, will not be able to enter the houses.
We have put a covid safe guide at each house to let you know what's required before you and your group enter and while you're all on the neighbourhood house premises.

If you would like to book a room with us please fill in this online form. Once you complete this form, we will be in touch within 7 days to confirm your booking (or offer another option if your room request is unavailable).

Before your room-booking, you will need to attend a quick 10-minute induction. At the induction, we will cover our Covid-19 procedures, key-use, and general safety information while you use our spaces. You will need to agree to all of these conditions (especially our cleaning requirements) before you are given access.

These new procedures help us to keep our spaces open and safe for our community - we really appreciate your patience in accommodating these changes.

Please let us know if you have any questions - we're here to answer all your queries.

The NECCHi staff have been working from home for the last 4 months and have really missed our community and the activities that happen in our houses. We're all looking forward to seeing you at the houses soon.

Again, let us know if you have any questions.

Rachael and the NECCHi team.

Hello ,

Hope you’re all well and happy to hear about the relaxation of restrictions!

Like many of you out there, we are keen to get back into the houses and get things happening again - we’ve had lots of enquiries from the community about when we’re opening our doors as well.

Although there has been information about the opening up of retail and some other sectors, we are still waiting for detailed information about what will happen in the community sector.

So to answer everyone’s questions, we’re not opening yet – when we have clearer directions from Department of Health and Human Services and we’re able to make sure the houses can adhere to all the rules, we will let everyone know.

You can still participate in our online activities - check here for all the classes that are coming up over the next few weeks.

Stay tuned to our newsletter (sign up here if you're not already on the list), our Facebook page, or Instagram for up-to-the minute information.

Yours,

Rachael Cilauro
NECCHi Manager
