Beekeep

'Beekeep' is little zero waste project I've been working on this past couple o' years.:)It's been a journey for sure, always keeping an eye on improving our methods to zero out waste streams in our home & business. We make Reusable & Biodegradable Beeswax Food Cloth, a natural alternative to 'cling film' or single use kitchen plastics, and attend craft & farmers markets where we engage with diverse communities local & regional.

Working with bulk natural materials, our end product is biodegradable. The cotton fabrics are sourced second/third/fourth hand & we use everything; offcuts, down to the last tattered rag & frayed bits of cotton. We make beeswax sticky tape out of the long edges of our fabrics, & postals go out in handmade bags, plastic free.

Tonight, and the following Fridays leading to Christmas, we will be at the Coburg Night Market.

Hi, I remember that someone wanted help learning about bees recently... well on sharehood there is someone near the corner of Murray Rd and Elizabeth St who is offering information about bee keeping.

You will have to join to see the information but hone in on the map of our part of the world and you'll find it.

Hi Folks,

I know of a feral hive of bees in a compost bin that need to be relocated: the bees are in Sunbury.

I’d love to have them with me in Coburg but I need a hive and mentoring (not to mention white overalls etc).

Any suggestions of either a good home for the bees or the wherewithal to have them with me in Newlands?

Removal of European Bees

Does anyone have the skills for or information on the removal of European Bees?

As of last night, a colony have taken up residence in the vent space of our house.

If you have the skills and ability to transfer this buzzy family to a hive (material or afterlife hive); or any tips on cheap, easy removal, please let me know. They are hogging so much of our backyard, on this lovely sunny day. I don't even wish to risk getting the clothes off the line.
