Hi there everybody,
We are putting out the call to anyone interested in Volunteering at the Garden Fiesta this year, to be held on Saturday, 7th November from 10am-4pm, held at our Coburg site. This year’s theme is ‘Weaving Community Together’ so lots of the activities, art works on display will feature an interpretation of this theme throughout the day and site.
Your time could be engaged with all manner of activity on the day – you just have to say what you would like to do and what your availability is. The more people actively volunteering throughout the day, the more we can move around and enjoy a diverse day of things we want to do.
Some tasks or roles are listed below:
· First Aider – sessions of 1- 2 hours through the day. We rarely get any incidents but need to provide this important point of contact. Calling on all KUC trained First Aiders please?!
· BBQ hands – cooking up on the BBQ
· Kitchen and food prep hands for BBQ and café – back up and assistance to the food servery areas
· Dish washing and crockery collection (bussing) to and from café to our fantastic whizzbang new commercial dishwasher!!
· Children’s activity area – helping to facilitate kids’ activities including weaving, nature crown making
· Volunteer Coordination – require a point of call for our fabulous volunteers on the day helping them secure their belongings, orient them on site etc
· Gate keepers – welcome the public and community to the Fiesta, collect and keep secure financial donations, host lost belongings or children, provide information about events or workshops on the day if required etc
· Serving food
· Barista and café support
· Setting up the workshop space
· Coordinating and supporting workshop facilitators
· Green Room support for musicians and performers
· Setting up the space for info display stalls and community stalls
· Managing and supporting info display area
· Giving information at the info table
· Setting up kids activity area
· distributing promotional material
· General help – set up/pack up
We are also gathering:
Odd balls of wool; pencil thick sticks or twigs for weaving projects; clean cardboard (to be cut into 30cm x 30cm approx. squares). Please donate if you can.
If the above kinds of volunteer tasks (and there are surely many others not listed here!) interest you and you can let Ross and I know in advance that you are able to help on this day or in preparation to the Fiesta, then please put your hand up now! The Fiesta is an amazing annual community event and has relied on the generous donation of time and effort from many volunteers year after year. We would love to have your help on board again this year if you can.
