We have a bike carrier and MDF wood to give away!

The bike carrier is pretty rudimentary and needs tie downs to work but we have used it frequently before upgrading.

The MDF wood was used as a shelf. There are four 2m planks and a number of smaller ones to form the compartments. Needs to be assembled and screws aren't included if you wanted to use it as a shelf.

The items are going to the hard rubbish unless picked up.

Please call Julia on 0405 575 252 if you are interested.

Hi to our great community!

We are looking for a home for an asylum seeker family, a mum with her two children.

They are just coming out of community detention, so their current accommodation will not be available for them.

Because of this, they have to find somewhere cheap to rent starting in the next 1 to 2 months.

We are looking for somewhere close to the West Preston tram line (they don't have a car) in West Preston, Coburg North, Regent or Reservoir area.

It could be a house, granny flat, or unit.

Does anyone have anything or know of anywhere that would be a possibility?

Please contact Kerry on 0412 311 707.

Hello Newlands Community

My neighbours, tenants in a community housing property need to vacate for 6 weeks. They need to do this very soon for the property to be urgently repaired. The family are long established migrants - mother, adult daughter and primary school aged son.

Any thoughts or offers welcome via myself.

Bike Found

Untitled-2

I found this bike dumped down the creek. Maybe it's yours? Maybe it's hard rubbish taken for a joy-ride? I'll take it to Ceres for recycling next week if nobody claims it -

Greetings all,

I’m clearing out the final items of furniture etc from my mother’s unit after she passed away last year. I need to find a new home for them very soon:

  • Double bed (inner spring mattress and base set) - fairly old, but in good condition. Could suit as a spare guest bed or for a holiday house.  FREE

  • “Freedom” Armchair - excellent condition in sage colour (I found the attached pic on the Interweb, and it’s a different colour, but exactly the same style).  FREE

Both items available for pickup from Ivanhoe.
If interested, give me a call.

G'day,

We recently moved to the Newlands area and are now looking for someone to replace the flat tray roof on the 'add on' built onto the back of our place.

Very keen to use someone local (and affordable!) that others have also found to be good.

If you've any suggestions for good roofers let us know! Thanks again.. antonia.sellbach@hotmail.com

Any other pregnant ladies in the area?

I'd love to start a weekly group meet up, maybe for some light exercise (walking and/or yoga etc) followed by tea and snacks. I was thinking we could take it in turns to host and to decide what we do that week.

None of my friends have kids and I'd love to get to know some local women who are in similar situations :)

My number is 0406 836 397. Call me if you are interested and we can work out a time to meet up!

Coburg RSL Gig

Midnight Scavengers+Giant Moths+Cougar Vox's Grr! w/DMOA+Nausea
@Coburg RSL Band Night #11
323 Sydney Road, COBURG
Saturday 2 May, Doors 7pm, $5, All ages 0-101+ are welcome (minors with guardian)

Come and celebrate the Coburg RSL's 1st Anniversary with us and enjoy some extra special perks such as a bumber Spam Raffle to beat all Spam Raffles, local Coburg Legend and 'Indie DJ' for the night Dave Lang who will be sharing some sonic nuggets of indie good-gracious-ness with us … and as usual many other surprises! Stellar line-up, don't miss out!

Midnight Scavengers
Meeting up in the shadowy haze of the Berlin streets, the keeper of the keys Dimitri Kucharzweski (The Hollowmen) & guitar slinger Jo Brockman (James McCann’s Dirty Skirt Band, Brian Hooper Band) formed Midnight Scavengers upon arrival in Australia. This duo added the rumbling bass of Jeff Hooker (Darling Downs, James McCann’s Dirty Skirt Band), hard hitting drummer Tim O’Shannassy (The Paradise Motel, MJ Halloran) and the melodic chaos of Andrew Watson (Waywardbreed, The Interim Lovers, The Man Who Wasn’t There) on violin/guitar. They have become one of the most respected groups in Melbourne, and they'll now be playing in Coburg for our sonic pleasure!

Giant Moths
Described as a 'San Fran ballroom psych-styled get-up'  this 4 piece features Jeff Hooker (Bass), Don Tom of Fraudband (Drums), Matt Palmer of the Exit Keys (Guitar) and led by Andrea Scarlett (Guitar & Flute). Giant Moths - they stare at you through the window. You have light. They do not. Will you share?

Grr! - Featuring DMOA
The ravings of Cougar Vox, an under-appreciated, misdirected wayward senior citizen making her comeback from a back that never was, heads off this ensemble. More of a dramatic interlude than a rock show, watching Grr is often described as “Completely wild”, “Absolutely insane”, “Noisy fun” and “not too long”. Cougar Vox did not have a conventional upbringing an emancipated, homelss punk by 16, washed up by 17. She attempted to tell her life's story in a stage show at Dane Certificate's Magic Shop, but … well, why not come and see for yourself what all the fuss is about!

Nausea
Nausea is the solo DOLO project of Andrew Dalziell of Auto da fé and Tangrams. Described as 'Elizabethan Goth Pop'. Must be seen to be believed!

Hi Newlanders.
We are having trouble with our ADSL internet and need to check whether the problem is the line or our modem.
Can anyone spare their ADSL modem for a few hours? We are told the modem settings won't change, but I can't guarantee that settings won't be lost when it loses power.
We'll pick it up and return it within 3 hours.
Much appreciated!
