Our Wonderful Mountain Ash Forests –
time to protect them

Come along and hear about the wonderful Central Highland Ash forest and its iconic Leadbeater’s Possum.
Victoria's most spectacular mountain ash forest is on our door step (near Healesville and Warburton just over an hour away). It is our water catchment and home to Victoria's emblem, the Leadbeater's Possum.  Thought of as the forests ‘canary in the coalmine’ as an indicator of the health of the forest, the Leadbeater's Posssum is now critically endangered.
7.30pm    Wednesday 15th July  2015
Cost $10

Information: Cath 0468 963 868
Julie 0431 700 313
Facebook Event for updates

Venue: Newlands, advised when you book
Our very special guest speaker is Steve Meacher, a Toolangi-based forest educator, President of Friends of Leadbeater's Possum, Chairman of Healesville Environment Watch and Vice-President of My Environment. He is active in the community to protect it from clearfell logging and to establish the Great Forest National Park.
How can our local community be part of the campaign to protect the Leadbeater's Possum and create the Great Forest National Park?
Come and meet other Darebin and Moreland locals, passionate about our environment and enjoy some music, home cooked food, refreshments and fabulous bush poetry.

Hello all, I live in Julius St, Coburg North and have found a beautiful white and ginger spotted kitten, no collar, about 6mths old, very friendly, no sign of de-sexing tatoo. We are looking for her owners. If you have any information please write asap to stevelara@gmail.com.
If you could send this around that would be amazing. I've also attached a photo of her. My partner and I are going to Sydney tomorrow for the weekend but a neighbour has agreed to look after her until we are back and he is on the Newlands News.
Best.

What is Coburg parkrun?

It is a 5km run - it's you against the clock.

When is it?

Every Saturday at 8:00am.

Where is it?

The event takes place at Coburg Lake Reserve, Lake Grove, Coburg, VIC 3058. See http://www.parkrun.com.au/coburg/course/ for more details.

What does it cost to join in?

Nothing - it's free! but please register at http://www.parkrun.com.au/register/ before your first run. Only ever register with parkrun once. Don't forget to bring a printed copy of your barcode. If you forget it, you won't get a time.

How fast do I have to be?

We all run for our own enjoyment. Please come along and join in whatever your pace!

Coburg parkrun needs you!

It is entirely organised by volunteers - email coburghelpers@parkrun.com to help.

We're friendly!

Every week we grab a post parkrun coffee at The boot factory café, 19 Pentridge Boulevard - please come and join us!

Tell me more!
We aim to provide a free, weekly, timed 5km running and walking event to every community that wants one, thereby strengthening community connections and helping reduce the prevalence of chronic lifestyle related diseases.
parkrun (always one word, always lowercase) is not a race against other runners, but a 5km timed run, jog or walk. It can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that's for fun or as part of a training plan.

Coburg parkrun offers an opportunity for all members of our local community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy our beautiful reserves, lake and creek and get physically active in the process. We want to encourage people to walk, jog or run together irrespective of their ability – this event is truly open to all and best of all it really is FREE!

Taking part is easy – just register in advance by 6pm on the Friday before your first ever parkrun event. The great thing is that you only ever need to do this once! Then just set your alarm for Saturday morning and get yourself there!
