We are a young family (Alex and Emily Sims plus our three young boys) in the second year of running a small scale regenerative farming business in the Macedon Ranges. We raise truly free-ranging chickens on fresh grass pasture for meat and eggs. We also keep Warré top-bar hives for raw honey and natural beeswax. CHRISTMAS CHICKENS! Enjoy a flavourful and plump ethically-raised chicken for Christmas this year! Our chickens live entirely on pasture in mobile structures that are moved to fresh grass every single day. In addition to their wild forage, they are given a high protein wholegrain feed that is milled in Victoria from Australian grown grain and legumes and is GM free. We do not use any hormones, antibiotics or animal derived feed. Taste the difference of a healthy and seasonal pasture raised chicken! The price is $30 for a medium or $35 for a large (approximately $14/per kilo). The price fairly reflects the labour it takes to move the chickens to free grass every single day, the high quality Australia-grown wholegrain feed, the processing and transport. This is also a good time to stock the freezer with chicken over summer - as we will not have chickens available again until April 2017.
