Free Whitegoods Pick Up Service

Untitled-2

Hello all,

We recently had to replace our washing machine and found a great service in Melbourne, Kids Off The Kerb, which took it off our hands for free for refurbishment or recycling.

To quote the website: "The young people involved in the program are trained to test, repair and clean the used whitegoods and electronics whilst developing a greater understanding of sustainability and community. Through the program the young people improve their skills and create education and employment pathways."

They accept any white goods, but are mainly after fridges, washing machines, and dryers. You can drop them off at their depot in Thomastown or request a free pick up service. This is available to Darebin and Moreland residents.

They also sell the refurbished goods as well.

Such a great idea and easy way for us to send our sad machines on to a better life.

Merri Murnong Activity

Untitled-2
Merri Murnong activity this coming Saturday 2/12 - 1-3 pm

Last activity at the Murnong Patch for 2017: gentle wandering to check what is happening and to collect seeds.

After the amazing Murnong Gathering 2017 (check out the pix on our FB https://www.facebook.com/pg/meccarg/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1991970127727107 ), our last planned activity is this Saturday 1 to 3 pm; meet at 1 pm near the wooden bench across from 103 Connolly Avenue near the Merri Trail.

The forecast is for a mild 20 o C; do bring a hat and wear sunscreen though once we’ll have collected seeds and thatch plus checked out our site, we may go keep on to the confluence where some of last year’s collection went. It could be a lovely meander along the Merri.

Spoiler alert: one of the exciting things happening is post-ecological fire native grass sprouting! It was, is and will be an important sight to Indigenous culture,,, and hopefully, to all of us in the future.

If you wonder what the yellow marker in the middle of this picture stands for, be curious and come to find out!

We will no longer be doing 1st Saturday of the month next year so stay tuned for more news soon.
