Recommendation Sought

Untitled-2

Has anyone had a chimney sweep done on a red clinker? If so, do you have a recommendation for someone to perform the service?

I needed an electrician for a couple of small jobs and was lucky to find Alex Shakeri’s contact details on this forum. Alex was punctual, patient, and did an excellent and solid job despite the fact that replacing sensor lights and a phone socket turned out to be not as straightforward as I expected.

I’ll need more electrical work in the future and it’s a relief to know that I’ve found a friendly and trustworthy electrician I can call on.

We recently had our front porch rebuilt by an excellent bricklayer, Damien.

We can really recommend his work. He has real pride in his work, is very personable and easy to deal with and very reasonable on price. He is also a qualified stonemason. He is very happy to do small jobs.

RIFFS NOT BOMBS

While we acknowledge the many sacrificed lives of the victims of military conflicts throughout history, it seems absurd that now in 2018, we, unfortunately, progress again further into the war cycle with the recent military action in Syria,

Most obvious here is that art and music become increasingly important in our lives as a contrary to war - as practices for building and strengthening our communities.

So we are open on Anzac day.

Friends of Edgar's Creek

Untitled-2

Let the planting begin!

Hi FoEC'ers and Friends,

Ah, I love this time of the year! Everything that has happened in the "off-season" now comes to fruition with the first planting for 2018...gee I love doing this.

We are planting at the Caravan Park site to start the year. Details are:

Sunday 22 April 2018, 1-3pm.

Stream bank, shrub and grassland extension at the Caravan Park site.

Hosted by the FoEC, Funded by Melbourne Water Community Grant (MWCG).

Meet behind the Big 4 caravan park - access from the end of Elizabeth St or Norfolk Court, North Coburg.

Forecast for the day is for 23 degrees and partly cloudy - probably couldn't ask for better perhaps (though 19 would be my preference). Given the forecast, sunscreen might be in order and don't forget extra water.

See you on the creek!

David.

Choristers Wanted

Untitled-2

Dear Mel and others at Newlands blog,

I will soon be completing a new work for choir, and plan to put together a choir to make a recording.

The work is without words, and in a modern/romantic/impressionist style, with a harmonic language influenced by Delius. There will be a small number of rehearsals then a recording session.

If there are any experienced choristers that would like to take part I would be very glad of their participation. The work will be unaccompanied, so strong sight-singing skills will be required.

I did a project similar to this a couple of years ago. The recording is on youTube. Search for Lachlan Brown Composer Summer Evening by the River.

Please contact me on 0434091533 or email, lachlanbrown24@gmail.com

Many thanks, Lachlan Brown.
