Pool News

Untitled-2

Hello, Pool Lovers,

Following an email to Moreland council I received a  phone call from a nice man called Jarrod who said that they are hoping to fast track the opening of the pool to 9th November. And possibly even a little earlier depending on restrictions and all.

Great news!

Thank you Moreland Council!

Solar Our Schools

Untitled-2

Solar our Schools has less than 1 days left before it presents an open letter to the government. It’s a parent-run campaign to use federal COVID recovery funds to get a substantial amount of Solar PV on the roof of every school and childcare centre in Australia -  with batteries so the PV is fully utilised outside school hours, on weekends and in the holidays too.

Australian Parents For Climate Action is running this campaign. This model would save schools a lot of money on electricity, cut pollution, create jobs and create a giant virtual battery. At present their are only small and piecemeal State government projects concerning solar on some school roofs, that involve too much admin for school staff to even qualify. This proposal would be universal and makes the connection between climate, Covid recovery and a renewable economy - which really needs to be made.

Here’s the link to sign the open letter and please spread the word on social media https://www.facebook.com/ap4ca

Online Women's Guitar Groups

Untitled-2

Online Women's Guitar Groups are for Absolute Beginners, Beginners, and Developing Players, age 16 and up. New term starting Oct 6!
Join us to learn to play your favourite songs in a small friendly online group via Zoom.
Learning online is a great way to make progress, feel motivated and have fun with each other while we see out this lockdown in musical style!
Here is what some current students say about the groups:
Joining this group has been an amazing experience for me. Rachel is a wonderful teacher and so easy to approach, she explains things so clearly and has no problem repeating herself. Learning with a bunch of lovely women has made my learning process so much fun too. I love the songs we are learning ....
Lizzie
I’ve been doing Rachel’s women’s guitar group for 2 terms and it’s been fabulous.... Rachel offers tips on the best way to play each chord or for changing chords. It’s great being in a group of women who are all at the same stage. If you want to learn guitar in a group that doesn’t break the bank, then this is it!
Jo
Abs beginners group runs weekly for 10 weeks, $120/$90
Level 1 and Level 2 groups run fortnightly over 10 weeks, $60/$45
Level 1 is for Beginners who can play a few open chords and a basic strumming pattern
Level 2 is for Developing Players who know most open chord shapes, and a few strumming patterns.

Coburg Olympic Pool

Support to open Olympic Pool earlier!

Our family would love to add our voice to support an earlier opening of the Olympic Pool - maybe there could even be outdoor fitness classes held there given the Active Moreland gyms have been closed for ages and I don't expect they'll be reopening in a hurry. If anyone has the best contact at Moreland Council can you please post details!

Outdoor Pool

Untitled-2

Hello, Newlands ers.

Inspired by Jo Roberts great idea, I have emailed Moreland Council asking if we can get  the Olympic pool opened early this season. Maybe other people are also interested and would also email? Maybe if they get enough requests it could happen. Otherwise it's going to be a long wait for an outdoor swim!  See you at the pool!

It's a very exciting time of year for NECCHi - we've just launched our Term 4 program of online activities and our AGM is just around the corner!

There are so many ways you can get involved with the NECCHi and help us work toward a stronger and more connected community - it can be as simple as participating in one of our activities as a (check out our new program here or book via our website here), or you can get involved behind the scenes by volunteering or delivering activities. Another important way you can be involved is by contributing to our governance.

Want a say on the future of NECCHi?

If the answer is yes, here is your chance.

Ensuring our community is at the heart of every level of our organisation is a key aspect of our constitution and one of the most important factors in the success of a community-run organisation. The first step for our community to become part of our governance is to become a member.

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is the most significant governance event of the year. At the AGM, we look over how we have worked over the past year but what is to come.
Our members, our board and our staff all play a part in setting the direction as NECCHi moves forward into the coming year. To be able to participate, contribute and play an active role at the AGM, you need to be a member.
