Our 2024 Waring (Term 2) Program is live!

The year is flying by - it's already time for us to launch our Term 2 Waring Program! Below we've got links to some fab new programs (head here to find the full list), and we also want to introduce you to some brand new staff members 👀 so keep reading to find out more 🤫

A message from Hannah (Programs & Marketing Coordinator):

This is our biggest program yet, and also my last! In case you missed our earlier announcement, I'm moving to France for a brand new adventure. I've been the Programs & Marketing Coordinator at NECCHi for the last 3 years, and I honestly have loved every second. I've seen children grow from 0-4 in the blink of an eye, met new neighbours to the area, discussed the best falafel spots (Half Moon Cafe is my winner), grown and swapped many plants, held 4 amazing Passata Parties, and coordinated 166 individual programs (some of which have run every term for 3 years and counting!) 😱

My time here has been so beautiful, and I'm so grateful to this amazing community for your warmth, friendliness and enthusiasm to have a chat. A huge shout out to the best staff team imaginable - thank you for putting up with me leaving for months at a time to make theatre, and the times I get grumpy and sick of emails. You're all the best and I'm going to miss you so much. My final day will be 17 April, so I hope to see as many of you as possible before I go... please swing by and grab me for a coffee and a little chat - it's the best part of the job! ☕️

À bientôt!
xx Hannah

Don't forget:

Passata Party Vol. 4 is THIS SATURDAY 23 MARCH, 9.00am - 3.30pm @ Newlands Neighbourhood House! Grab your tickets here and join the tomato fun 🍅
Oh - and don't forget to bring your keep cups for Brewlands coffee!!

Our NECCHi Neighbour Program gives you 10% off full priced programs, and free tickets to all $5 casual programs! Head here to sign up to the membership program and get discount off all 2024 tickets. You also get free Brewlands coffee, seed packets and more...

We now offer Afterpay! You can purchase any tickets using this feature, which splits the cost into 4 easy repayments. Please note: we don't allow refunds on any ticket purchases, so make sure you can commit to the term before purchasing.

As always, any feedback or questions can be sent to enquiries@necchi.org xx

Introducing: Mitch (they/them)
Programs & Marketing Coordinator

Hi everyone, I'm Mitch, I'll be joining the NECCHi team as the new Programs and Marketing Coordinator! I come to NECCHi with a background as an Events Coordinator with a small community-run bookshop, and as a Gallery Curator with a small artist studio.

Outside of work, I'm a long-time amateur gardener, with a special fondness for growing vegetables. I spend a lot of my spare time cycling, climbing, and painting. This year, I've decided to take up running for the first time in my adult life, and to finally learn how to play the trumpet.

I became involved with NECCHi during the 2022-23 Biderap and Iuk Season of programs, hosting the monthly Merri Creek bike ride, and I'm looking forward to meeting many more of the people who make up the NECCHi community!

Introducing: Toni (she/her)
Administration Assistant

Hi! My name is Toni and I am the newly appointed Administration Assistant at NECCHi. I am beyond thrilled to be a part of this wonderful community.

I come from various roles which will help me serve the community, including: kindergarten teaching, running a bush playgroup, volunteer work with Merri Creek Management Committee, and with a dog rescue. I also run a family business in landscaping and spend a lot of time running after my little ones!

I cannot wait to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. Please find me and introduce yourselves, I look forward to meeting you.

Paper Kites for Palestine

PAPER KITES FOR PALESTINE
Help fold and decorate over 12, 000 paper kites in 12 hours
SATURDAY 23rd of MARCH from 9 am to 9pm @ Catalyst Social Centre
144 - 146 Sydney Road Coburg
FREE and WELCOME TO ALL  Catered event with Iftar for Ramadan.
In 2011, the children of Gaza flew 12, 350 kites breaking the world record for most kites flown at one time. We will be folding 12,000 paper kites within 12 hours to honour this achievement and to create a visual representation of the devasting number of children killed, which have now exceeded that number.
Once completed, the kites themselves will be exhibited and used for future actions, creating powerful visual displays that emphasise the humanity of the Palestinian people, specifically children, who have been killed in such catastrophic numbers.
Come to Catalyst Social Centre where we will provide food*, entertainment, and craft supplies or tune in to our livestream and fold your own kites at home.

Family - friendly event
*Out of respect for our Muslim friends observing Ramadan, we will limit food to one area of the event until it is time for Iftar when we can join together to break the fast. Catering is vegan. Additional dietary requirements can be requested via the online registration.
If you're not able to attend please consider donating to our event, we are collecting money for Palestine advocacy in Australia and for the children in Gaza. Details in the link below.
If you like what we're doing and want to support this event directly we are collecting money for craft supplies and food here:
