FoEC AGM and 2013

Untitled-2

Hi Friends and Members,

Hello to many of you for the first time in 2013.
A number of points of note with this email.
First, the FoEC AGM will be held on February 24th at 1.00 PM at the Newlands Community Centre. As per our constitution, all positions on the committee are vacated annually and are therefore open for nominations. Nominations can be forwarded to myself or are welcome on the day.
Second, the 2013 calendar of event will be out soon.
We have a full season of events and have secured support from Melbourne Water, Satterley and the Commonwealth Dept of Sustainability and Envornment for planting projects between April and October. We also will be joining the Moreland City Council and FoMC, MECCARG and FoCL for World Environment Day in a project focusing on the confluence of Edgars and Merri Creeks west of the footbridge. Sunday afternoon, third Sunday of the month will be reatined as our regular day/time for planting events.
Keep a watch for notice of our March event. We will be hosting another Walk and Talk event on the creek - speaker is to be confirmed.
I am aware of a lot of snake sitings in 2012/13; the dry has brought them out looking for tucker - please take care out on the creek.
Finally, gee it's dry again; I look forward to seeing you on the creek (and at the AGM) and some rain.

Kind regards,

David Pavone
President FoEC.

The Four Directions—our connection to nature and all living things. Each Direction—a time of day, a time of year and a time in a life-journey; its qualities resonating within us.
A residential weekend led by an experienced counsellor and art therapist– Karyn Down. This guided process of self-discovery will be surrounded by the healing elements of nature. Sit in the bush, by the river, observe, reflect, replenish. Learn from the movement of water, the winds, the trees, the earth and the power of the sun and its fire energy.
The connection between your self and the Four Directions will be explored using a range of creative arts. There will be time to play and express through painting, working with clay, drumming, and movement and breath work.

Band Members Wanted

Untitled-2

We are a Melbourne Band Looking for both a bass and an organ player.

Our music is a blend of Soul, Swampy Blues, and Country, with elements of Folk and Funk there too. We perform our own music. The songwriting is strong and the playing good, with great singing involving lots of harmonies.

Any age or Gender welcome- we are currently 2 Females and a Male and all of us with young kids.
We have some needs and some wishes for the players we are looking to find:

-Double bass would be a bonus, thou prefer both
-Old analogue organs or electric pianos would be a bonus
- We'd like someone who can sing, preferably anyway, though don't let this stop you
- Someone who is able to rehearse at least fortnightly and gig ongoing at least fortnightly
- We are not looking for a session player, ie. not someone in lots of bands
- And someone who can be a positive force for the band, who wants to be this, wants to help it work
- We want someone who is willing to tour, at least occasionally

We are "Paul Carey and the Lustral Water", .
Check out our FaceBook site, we have some songs on there and some photos and we invite you to make contact and ask a few more questions and tell us a bit about yourself then we'll either come and see you play, or get together and jam with you. We can certainly send you a more extensive Bio.
