House for Sale

Untitled-2

A Private Oasis

Location

Our house is situated right in the middle of North Coburg, just above Coburg Hill. Convenience and neighbourhood combine to make this a wonderful pocket of Coburg North.

The supermarket, Elizabeth Café and Degani’s are just around the corner. We also have the lovely Sometimes Café bar a 5 minute walk away. Stroll there on a Friday night or Sunday afternoon to listen to local live music talent and catch up with friends and neighbours. Regent street shops and cafes are just two blocks away. We are very close to everything; local shops, Woolies, cafes, kinder, daycare, schools, bars, sporting facilities, parks and of course the creeks. There is a bus at the end of the street going to Coburg or you can walk to the Regent street tram for easy access to the city.

The beautiful Edgars Creek parkland and bike track are great to have so close. My children have loved going down to the creek to throw stones in the water, build cubby houses, make dams and generally enjoy nature. They have also helped out at planting days so they can watch the trees that they have planted grow strong over the years.

Newlands and Reservoir West Primary as well as local Catholic primary schools are within easy reach. Coburg Secondary School promises to be an excellent option for older children.

Best of all we have lovely neighbours and friends in the streets and surrounding neighbourhood who have made living in Tilley Street an absolute pleasure.  We lived here for 17 years and have raised five (yes five!!) children here over the last decades.

The house

It is a weatherboard house that is beautifully light filled and feels very spacious, emanating a Scandinavian charm. Period features include beautiful double lead light doors in an art deco style, bakelite door handles, wooden picture rails and etched glass door panels (swan and butterfly) as well as a magnificent curved wall unit. Baltic pine polished boards add to the charm. Just beautiful. There is also nothing to do. The house has been repainted, restumped, new wiring and attention to detail mean you can move in and relax. The hard work is all done.

We have plenty of space with three or four bedrooms. The fourth could be a wonderful study. All bedrooms have lovely garden views. The master bedroom feels enormous. This bedroom looks out on to the shady front garden. The new built in wardrobes provide ample storage. A large modern kitchen as well as a dining and separate lounge add to the feeling of spaciousness. The city views from the kitchen landing are a definite plus. Heating and cooling are covered with a gas log fire and reverse cycle air-conditioning as well as underfloor insulation to keep you snug. Two bathrooms and a separate laundry and toilet all add to the convenience and comfort.

Extra features

Best of all we have a large self-contained bungalow unit at the rear of the property. This has the most awesome large windows straight from the 1950s. The room sparkles with light and brightness. This allows for flexible living that can adapt to your changing needs over time. This unit could be used for any number of purposes including artist’s studio, teenage retreat, granny flat or as space for a home business or even as a separate rental to earn income.

The separate games/hobby room adjoining the courtyard is a real luxury. This could be space for playing billiards or table tennis or a man cave to enjoy and make your own.

Gardens

The house has beautiful landscaped gardens that I have created over the years. The mature native garden at the front enables privacy and a feeling of tranquillity. The garden was planted to attract native birds. From the front bedroom and the lounge you will be able to watch the honey eaters feeding on the bottlebrush and grevilleas.  The rear garden has space for a trampoline and swing set as well as a patch of lawn for relaxing. The rear veggie garden will enable you to pick fresh tomatoes or leafy vegetables to add to your salad. Fruit trees include a generous orange tree and two lemon trees. We also have planted olive tree, two apples and a pear so you can enjoy fruit from your own backyard.

Private Courtyard

A beautiful private courtyard at the rear of the house provides a special entertaining spot. We have had many celebrations here over the years. It is a sheltered and private nook that is great for a relaxing BBQ with friends and families

So here we are selling our beloved family home of almost twenty years. We haven’t moved far as we love the North Coburg feel.

If you would like to come and check out the house or know someone who may be interested please pass on our details. Call Rosemary on 0432 499 923 for further details.

We have a room available in a great big comfortable house in West Preston, in a quiet no-through road that leads to Merri Creek. It’s a short walk to CERES, between Gilbert Road and Nicholson St, and really close to both tram lines, and the farmers garden down by the bridge. There's also lots of bird life. We are looking for an independent, calm and considerate house mate. We would prefer someone who is working. You’ll be sharing with three other women and one cat.
Monthly rent $514 plus bills. Available 10 November. Call Mellissa 0406 831 058.

'Sometimes' is closing - would it suit you?‏

Untitled-2

Dear Newlanders,

Though it feels like we were just getting started, 'Sometimes', our occasional bar and cafe, will soon be closing its doors.

We are expecting another baby in the new year and have decided to focus our energy on our family.

We are seeking expressions of interest from anyone keen to run the venue or start something new and perhaps commit more time to it than we can. It has everything you would need for a food, music, or drink venue including commercial beer system, espresso machine, fridges, commercial oven and dishwasher, lighting etc, plus great regulars ;)  There are current liquor and food licences as well. Acoustic tiles have been installed on the ceiling to improve sound quality in the space.

The house at the rear/ upstairs is two bedrooms with BIRs, kitchen/living, bathroom, toilet, study nook and courtyard with rear access.

If you are interested in running, leasing or buying the space, send us a text on 0415 481 751 to talk further.

Thanks for all your support to date and stay tuned for a few more events before we close up shop. We hope to see you around.
