Prom Coast Food Collective

Happy 3rd Birthday to the Collective and we need to talk about April

We are resilient. We are farmers.
Happy 3rd Birthday to the Collective.

Whilst having a party is not possible and it feels "complicated" to celebrate, we wish to acknowledge our achievements and thank each and every one of you who has supported us.

In our very first month of selling as a Collective, in April 2017, we took a total $8,000 in sales for the month. In March 2020, total sales for the month were $59,239.10. No really.

Over 3 years, we have put back into the pockets of our farmers and therefore into our wider regional community of Gippsland, $682,343.40.

Am I allowed to get a little teary now? Too late. I am.

We have much to be proud of. We are also very proud of all of you, in thinking outside of the supermarket box.

Much love, solidarity, and heartfelt thanks from Sally, Amelia and all the Collective farmers and makers.

We need to talk about April

Our intention is to provide deliveries on the following Sundays in April: 12th, 19th, 26th.

Orders for the Sunday 12th April delivery will open Saturday April 4th.

Notes for April (as we know them): Home Deliveries only. No drop offs. Locations for delivery are now being worked out. We will attempt to have a South Gippsland-local "pop your boot" pickup.

Yesterday's packing session was. Well. Epic.

The learning curve is steep. Almost 200 orders packed and delivered yesterday. But as always, we will roll with it.

Health and Safety Measures

We are practicing physical distancing at the packing session. We have hand sanitisers and masks in use. We are providing contact-less deliveries. We are cleaning all crates prior to and after each packing session.

We are your organic, short supply chain. We are resilient. We are farmers. We are committed to feeding you organic produce from South Gippsland. Now. And always.

Over 20 farming families and makers, organic and regenerative farming practices...one store, one payment, one pick up.

It is so simple.

Make sure your shopping $ goes to something good.

Seeking Rental

Untitled-2

Hi Newlanders,

I wrote this a few weeks ago before before we were in the clutches of Covid-19.

I've been living in the area for over 15 years and soon have to move due to renovations at my rental-which are still going ahead. I have to be out by the end of May. No one wants to be or should be moving at this time, but I don't have much choice..

Long story short, I'd love to stay in this community and am looking for a new home to set up-not looking to join a share house, with a view to possibly seeking a housemate down the track. Preferably something long term.

I'm a horticulturist of 35+ years, run my own business (consultation, edible gardens, fruit tree pruning, maintenance, renovation & beautification), and am the kind of gardener who gets home from work and goes straight out to the garden.

I'm looking for a place with a garden to possibly beautify/renovate in exchange for negotiable rent.
So if you have a rental property with a neglected garden, one that needs some changes or just needs regular, professional maintenance, please contact me.

NB - I don't do hard landscaping, only the soft stuff but can advise and refer.

I hope everyone is staying safe on all levels out there.

Cheers,
Jo.

Beer!

Untitled-2

Important community service announcement!

Audacious Monk Cellars on Regent St, Preston (or is it Reservoir?) are trying to get rid of their kegs of beer, as they can't have sit-down customers anymore.

You have to bring in STERILISED bottles (either treated with boiling water or even better, put in the oven for at least 10 mins) and they will fill it with fancy craft beer for $15 per litre! (roughly half price, based on what you'd pay for a pint?).

They said they may be getting even more kegs from other Victorian businesses in the coming days and weeks, and continuing to pass on all this beer that would otherwise be going to waste.

Feminista Vinyl Pozible Campaign

Untitled-2

Hi lovely community.

The Feminista Vinyl team are still running our campaign, with the provision that we are postponing our launch until it is safe to do so.

We still have this week to go, so are open to accepting pledges until April 4th. The amazing thing is we have reached our target thanks to those who have pledged so far. Thank you!!

So now we have set a stretch target, with extra funds being dedicated to purchasing stock from some of the smaller local Indi labels that are struggling right now.

Please consider pledging any amount you can, no matter how small. We are so looking forward to celebrating with all our supporters when this is all over.
