Epping Sexual Offence and Child Abuse Team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating reports of an attempted abduction in Reservoir yesterday.

Investigators have been told a nine-year-old girl was putting rubbish out at her front yard on Radford Road when a man on a silver bicycle approached her just before 6pm.

It is alleged the man grabbed her arm and the girl shrugged off the man’s grip before running inside to tell her mother.

The man fled the scene, east on Halsey Street and was last seen at the intersection of Halsey and Greig Streets.

The offender is described as being aged in his 60s, Southern European in appearance with a medium to solid build.

He was wearing a denim jacket, jeans and black shoes, riding a silver bike believed to be a mountain bike.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or any suspicious activity in the area to come forward and assist them in their investigation.
