Advice....

Untitled-2

Hi everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone has been under or for some other reason knows what the lay of the land is under the free-standing red brick Newlands estate style houses?
We have a house with no underfloor access but have a growing list of reasons to create an access. However, I believe the foundations might be solid brick/concrete boxes without gaps mirroring where doors are in the house above...
Can anyone advise?
Many thanks Zoe.

  1. Hi Zoe,
Actually we can tell you exactly whats under there as we spent a fair bit of time inspecting under two of those houses prior to going to Auction (unfortunately we missed out but that's another story! ;)
The main supporting structures are brick piers (that's like columns) and then running across those are concrete beams which sit under each wall and door. Depending on your floor height there should be some space under them. The floorboards sit independently on timber joists on timber stumps within (or concrete if they've ever been replaced).
We've got heaps of photos so if it would make more sense to see for yourself let me know and I can email some.I hope this helps!
    Cheers,
