Friends of Edgars Creek

Untitled-2
Hi Friends and Members,

I am writing to let you know we are planting again this Sunday, the usual time 1-3PM and we will be at the upper escarpment area on the west side of the creek, north of the Kodak bridge (above the Greening Australia and Dept of Justice rabbit proof-fenced areas). The easiest way to access this site is to walk upstream/north from the west side of the Ronald Street footbridge. Walk past the Gooseneck site, under the Kodak bridge and head up the hill to the top of the escarpment. We should have signs out to assist. I would recommend coming this way as the creek is likely to be up and crossing may be difficult. For those who have not been up to this site, the city view is arguably the best in Melbourne - tell me if you think I'm wrong...

Unfortunately the forecast is looking a bit like it will be a day for the brave...though fingers crossed that the afternoon will be dry.

We have a range of trees and shrubs for this planting and we will be planting the sheoaks we potted up last year - they look amazing; 2-year old trees are a joy to plant. We also have additional black sheoaks coming as well and this will help us create a sheoak woodland area that will whistle in the wind in the years ahead - I look forward to that.

As usual Rob and I will be on site from around 10.30-11.00 AM and all are welcome to come along earlier and assist with set-up of the planting and other tasks (good for those who can't hang around in the afternoon or have other commitments to get to!).

See you on the creek! (or up the hill, a bit away from the creek in this instance)

Kind regards,
David Pavone

President FoEC.
