Dances of the Mediterraneo, girls workshop

Hello everybody!

I am running a 2 days dance workshop for girls 8 to 12 years old on the 23rd and 24th if January, at the Coburg Baptist church hall, 297 Sydney rd, from 10am to 12pm each day. The workshop will explore traditional dances of the Mediterranean area that focus on feminine issues and celebrate the passage from  childhood into womanhood. From the fluid and relaxing moves of Egyptian baladi (commonly considered a form of bellydance), to the sacred circle dances of Greek and South of Italy, and the trance ritualistic dances of Morocco and Algeria.

This will be a fun, natural and safe way for young girls to connect with their changing bodies, and to build awareness and acceptance of it through movement, rhythm and the discovery ancient rituals and beliefs. I have worked within this field for the last 3 years with regular residencies in a number of girls secondary colleges in Melbourne, it is a very exciting and inspirational journey for every young woman!

The cost for both days is $50 per girl, $85 for siblings.

RSVP essential, very limited places left, I'll keep the class quite small and intimate.

Call or email me for more info or to book in!!

Feel free to pass it on to any young woman you think might be interested!

Happy new year,
