The class is $60 per person for the day.
Give me a call on 0439 319 056 to book in. Payment cash or transfer. Details on request.
Looks like it will be busy so call and book in to secure a spot.

Please send through to your contacts or put up in your shop if that suits.

Hope to see you there!

Help Needed

Untitled-2

I need some help from some kind soul who understands worms and their ways.
I have a worm farm (the cafe style) and  although I have read the instructions that came with it, and spent much time reading the information on the web, I am still at a loss about how to retrieve the castings and generally keep the worms happy and productive.
I would be very grateful for some help (I think the worms would too!) and glad to pay for it.
Gillean.

The not for profit venue Coburg RSL is holding its 7th independent Band Night on Saturday 1 November, a unique ALL ages experience where no one is too OLD or YOUNG. The club does not rely on pokies for its revenue, so the Coburg RSL is developing this Band Night to connect with the community. A special spotlight is put on independent, young/new, up and coming acts. On the first Saturday of every month, Mrs Barb Wire (our fantastic MC) and the friendly staff/volunteers of the Coburg RSL will wend you down a path full of happy surprises, not least of which is the 'Spam Raffle'. Come along this month and you are in for a treat! We have lined up an ecclectic and enjoyable roster of independent music, a welcoming community vibe, punk pantomime and family friendly stop-motion animation! A selection of board games will also be available for the kiddies!! Don't miss it, see ya there Coburg supporters!!

Here's the lineup:
7:15
Animachin videos: We'll kick off the night with short stop-motion animated films from Animachin (aka Alex Machin, local artist and teacher). J M S Harrison: James Harrison has been busy both with his band Charm and his solo path, with the 2013 EP ‘Find Any Place’ and having just put out the first single ‘Tightrope’ that features good friend Cabin Inn off an upcoming debut solo album titled ‘Tales Surround The Lighthouse Lamp’ due out end of the year or early next year.
Check out his sounds here: http://jmsharrison.bandcamp.com/

9:15
Brown & Hurley: No one knows when these ruffians rolled up into town. And noone, especially they themselves, ever knows how long they'll stay in these parts. All we need to know is that they sing of comings, goings lovings and moving ons. See to believe 'em!

8:45
DMOA: Might blow you away? Consider this work by Shane Van Den Akker as ambient, noise, experimental 'sound art' ... but whatever your name for it, enjoy this taste of the ephemeral on our side of town. He'll be joined onstage by the one and only Cougar Vox presenting an excerpt from her upcoming 'punk panto' Cougar Vox & the Sheeple, opening 14 November at Dane Certificate's Magic Theatre.

Pikelet (solo): Evelyn Morris, also known as Pikelet, is a musician from the outer suburbs of Melbourne. Although she'd played piano from a young age she began her career in music as a hardcore/punk obsessed drummer, performing in many bands but mostly in Baseball and True Radical Miracle. In 2003 she switched from drum kit to a mix of instruments and a loop pedal to start a solo career. She utilises delay pedals, piano accordion, drums, guitar and other forms of percussion in her music.
Check it out: http://pikelet.bandcamp.com/

10:15
The Happy Lonesome: The Happy Lonesome formed in Geelong in the late 90's when singer/songwriter/guitar/harmonica playing Matt Green finally decided to put a band together. What started as a duo soon expanded to a 5 piece band. Over the years there have been many different incarnations of the band, but one thing remains, is their country rockin' ways. Playing as a duo with Claire Birchall on the night. Getta glimpse here: https://myspace.com/thehappylonesome

Michael Plater & the Exit Keys: Having played in various bands in Queensland and Melbourne, Michael Plater
began playing solo in 2005. Playing tonight with his band "The Exit Keys," Looking for musicians to play his solo set live, Michael brought in long-term collaborator Pierce Brown on guitars and keys. They were soon joined by local
luminaries Matt Palmer (the Sterlings, Raw Nerves) on bass and Danny Martinov (Problem, Scale Models, Right of Silence, Ryan Ferry) on the drums, and a new band "Michael Plater and the Exit Keys" was formed. The band will be recording ther debut EP in November.

Project Oh! Gowrie Station

Untitled-2

Hi there,

MoreArt, Moreland's Public Art Prize is on again and I have a work  Project Oh! installed at Gowrie Station, on the Upfield Line in Fawkner  - I know, I am always on the fringe…..
For those of you who are familiar with my recent work Project Oh! is a development of the plastic toy faces, although now the look even more surprised as they are installed in a disused newspaper sellers stand in an outer suburban train station.
The project has a small participatory element, a bit of handy work with fuzzy felt which only takes a minute and is fun for all ages.
I would really love your help in getting the activity rolling.
I am  launching the project this Sunday between 9-11am, with a few soda's and nibbles to sustain those who venture out, train or bike might be a family fun option - there is a bike path.

MoreArt are hosting a bike tour later on in the day but sadly it is unlikely to venture out as far as Gowrie :(

So please join me in kicking off Project Oh!

Regards,
Roseanne.

Mysore Style Ashtanga Yoga

Untitled-2

I just started an awesome class with a great teacher named Amanda Ferris in East Brunwick, right near CERES.

It's ashtanga yoga but in the Mysore tradition, in which everyone follows there own rhythms and timelines. It's a drop-in class from 6am to 8.30am, you come as long or as little as you like, do your own thing, and the amazing teacher mentors everyone as an individual.

I learnt yoga a decade ago in India and this feels like the real deal. Amanda's been practicing daily for 12 years and is fully certified after years of study in the Mysore tradition. I'm loving it :)

Lost

Untitled-2

Hi Newlands News.

We left a scooter at the top of the track leading to Edgar's creek near the end of Elizabeth St, while we went for a walk. When we got back it was gone.
We left it hidden in the bushes and we're guessing someone thought it had been dumped .
If you found it, we'd love it back!

Pozible Campaign - Anna Cordell

Untitled-2

A lovely friend of mine is in the midst of her very first Pozible Campaign, she wants to release her first solo EP.

She is a very talented musician and she's putting herself out there..........

If you feel like hearing something new and beautiful please check out her page:

Here is a little snippet of her introduction.....

First of all I'm a mum with 4 beautiful little girls, I had them relatively young and was forced to grow up pretty fast.

Over the course of my life I've had this nagging voice saying 'music... Muuuuuuussssiiiic' I never knew exactly what that meant but over the last few years its been getting especially LOUD!

So in the gaps between being with the girls (nights!) I've been singing and writing and gigging and somehow finding myself playing around Melbourne with an amazing group of extremely talented musicians.

Found and Thank You

Untitled-2

Hi All.

These shoes were left in the park after the clothes swap and we have a feeling they belong to someone who wants them back!

Please text Mel if you know who they belong to 0404 043 010.

Also, I would just like to say thank you to everyone who offered to donate a mattress. The response was overwhelming and heartwarming. Andy has delivered the mattress and it was very thankfully received. I got so many texts about the mattress that I didn't get back to everyone, apologies if you never heard back from me, there were just so many offers!!!

It's times like these I am reminded how beautiful our community is!
