Today marks the beginning of Children's Week: a time we set aside each year to celebrate the rights of children to enjoy their childhood in peace, freedom and safety. Most of us take this for granted but some are not so lucky.
Right now there 202 children who are being denied a childhood while locked up in Australian immigration prisons. We know this harms children, yet our Government keeps them locked there regardless.
Malcolm Turnbull has the power to let them out.
This Thursday across Australia we are joining in a day of solidarity for children in detention. Together we are calling on Prime Minister Turnbull to do the right thing and let kids in detention be free to have a childhood.
