Get Writing Right

Untitled-2

When you are writing formally (writing an important letter, applying in writing for a job, submitting something for publication, for example), are you worried that your writing is not quite right? Is the grammar a problem? Are you uncertain whether that comma should be a full stop? Or vice versa?
How formal is ‘formal’? What makes writing formal anyway?
How do you go about editing your writing? Is editing really necessary?
Is ending a sentence with a preposition really a mortal sin?
Does good writing matter in these days of texting and twittering?
Is there a particularly useful book that addresses a writer’s problems?
If you are interested in these questions, you may find the short course on offer at Newlands Community House helpful, as it will provide advice and discussion of these and many more bothersome aspects of writing.
The helpful advice will be given by experienced editor and widely published wordsmith, Gillean Dunk.
