Stomping Event
Calling on Adults' Stompers and Destroyers
The 7th Murnong Gathering is upon us (Yep, starts this Saturday, 11 am) and if you intend to come and did not had the delight this year to come and lend us a hand on 1st Saturdays of the month for that amazing-a-project, here's a chance!
A few years ago, some African Boxthorn weeds - with devilishly pointy long spines - were cut at the quarry. Waiting for the replacing shrubs to grow, the pile provided much suitable habitat to families of Blue Wrens and Firetails ... and a few slithering friends ... I saw at least some nice skinks. All happy! Now it is breaking down, so with suitable care and adequate gloves and footwear it can be handled, stomped on and the spineless bigger branches will make great fuel for our harvest's fires. How amazing a bother can be turned into an opportunity!
This is where community input could turn that Murnong Gathering chore into a bit of celebration! So bring yourself with boots and gloves to the quarry from 4 pm this Thursday. The more the merrier to make it a light and adult fun task.
If you need to bring kids after school, all good, there is a humpy and of course nature play on offer. However you will have to make sure they do not get underfoot; this stomping and destroying is strictly adults only!
Hope to see you there with your big boots and thick gloves - Quarry - this Thursday - 4 pm.
