The Friends of Coburg Cemetery Inc. invite you to celebrate the life of a remarkable Melbournian on the 100th anniversary of his death.
Laurence Cohen (1874—1916) was a powerful and respected community leader, union official and Labor stalwart who worked tirelessly for workers’ rights and the Victorian community. 100 years ago, after speaking at a meeting of striking miners, Laurie fell from a hotel window and died, aged only 41.
Join us, say a few words, place a flower or just come along to hear about his life.
3pm, Friday 12 February 2016, Coburg Cemetery, Bell St, Preston.
This informal ceremony will be led by Kelvin Thomson, MP, with a commemoration speech acknowledging the important contribution of this remarkable man.
