Hello,
My name is Sally Grant and I am helping to coordinate the ABS 2016 Census for the Moonee Valley, Moreland and Hume region of Melbourne.
I would like to pass information on to your members about job opportunities to work on the Census. These jobs are really suited to community minded people and can be managed around other commitments.
2016 Census – Your moment make to make a difference
August 9 is Census night, and the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking for up to 6,900 dedicated and enthusiastic members of the community to help shape the future of Victoria.
Field Officers will play a critical part in the ABS’ efforts to count approximately 6 million people across the state on Census night.
These casual positions come with flexible hours and are suitable for people from all walks of life. To be considered for the role you’ll need to be a good communicator, comfortable using a computer, tablet or mobile device, reasonably fit, licensed to drive, willing to travel and able to work independently.
In metropolitan areas, Field Officers will only visit households to remind people to complete their online Census form or to request a paper form if they would prefer. For rural and remote areas, Field Officers will hand deliver and collect forms.
Field Officers will earn up to $21.61 per hour, receive motor vehicle allowances and enjoy flexible working hours for up to 3 months.
Applicants must be Australian citizens or have the legal right to work in Australia, and they must hold a valid driver’s licence. To view the applicant information kits and to apply online, visit www.abs.gov.au/careers. Applications close on 29 May 2016.
Applications for Field Offer positions will be open from 2 May. If your application is successful you’ll be helping to gather valuable information that decision makers, government and businesses will use to allocate services, facilities and funding in your community for years to come.
