Classic Films - Thursdays 4 - 6pm - Newlands Community House

5 May: October was made in the USSR in 1927. Silent with music by Shostakovich and celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Bolshevik revolution. 

12 May: Phantom of the Opera (1925) is also silent and was directed by Rupert Julian for Universal and it has early 2 strip technicolor inserts. 

19 May: Jedda (1954) was the first all Australian colour feature film, directed by pioneer Australian director, Charles Chauvel  and touches on the issue of stolen Indigenous Australian children. 

26 May: Walk into Paradise (1956) is a "jungle" adventure made in the then Australian colony of Papua directed by and starring Chips Rafferty, and is an Australian/French co production.
