Go Fund Me

Untitled-2

The Women of Deep Samburu is a project dedicated to creating viable and sustainable futures for a group of 30 women of the Samburu tribe in Northern Kenya. Marginalised and faced with challenges that threaten their basic survival, this campaign aims to create individually tailored micro-business initiatives.

The Women of Deep Samburu are primarily widows and single mothers, stuck within a cycle of poverty and scraping at the bare bones of survival. Despite the undeniable hardship they face, these women radiate an undeniable joy and a fierce will to live. They have proven resilience, ideas and initiative but are lacking the necessary support to get anything off the ground.

This project will focus on the three main economic avenues integral to Samburu culture. Departing from traditional models of international ‘aid’, the women of the project choose which avenue of support fits their unique needs and skill sets. By helping these women to help themselves they can create something that is not only self-empowering but also self-sustainable.

Our project goal also includes a Traditional Water Well for the village. The only water source available is a saline lake that is contaminated by animals and becomes bone dry in the Summer months. Typhoid and waterborne disease is one of the biggest killers in this area. Safe and Reliable water is a powerful gift that changes lives. Let's make this gift a reality.

Our goal is to raise $13,000 AUD ($9800 USD) to make these sustainable futures for the Women of Deep Samburu into a reality. 100% of all donations will be used directly to help set up these business initiatives.
