This link across the Merri Creek is popular with people who walk and cycle the Merri Trail, or who simply want to catch public transport at the corner of Nicholson and Bell Streets, Coburg.
After 4 years of consultation, design and construction, the old bridge, which was damaged by regular flooding events, has been removed.
The new bridge is above the 1 in 100 year flood level and will be safe for users in all weathers.
Come help us launch the new bridge, chat with the Mayor Helen Davidson and enjoy a smoothie which you make yourself on a pedal powered blender from Bike and Blend!
Watch video footage of the old bridge under flood waters on Christmas Day 2011.
