Merlynston Linear Park

Untitled-2

Greetings all,

As yet I haven’t set any planting dates for Coburg Lake or along the Merri Creek (between Goleen St and Coburg Lake) for this year, but Jane Holroyd and others have been very busy organising lots of activities in Merlynston and along the Upfield bike path.  So please see a list of these below and feel free to join in on all or any.

This Sunday, March 26th (Greening Merlynston @ the market)
Members of the Upfield Urban Forest and Merlynston Linear Park will have a stand at the Merlynston Market (Bain Reserve, Merlyn Street). Come and say hi, pot a native seed or two, or try your hand at taking a cutting for our autumn and winter community native gardening projects. The market will run from 10am - 3pm and we'll have a few local green thumbs on hand to share their expert tips.

Saturday April 1st: TLC for Rani's garden (Coburg)
Rani's amazing food forest just south of Batman train station on the Upfield bike path needs a spuce-up! Bring a spade, a hat, some gloves, some muscles and good attitude. We'll be tidying up and mulching (yay!) from 8am-11am at Batman Avenue, Coburg.

Sunday April 30th (AM)
Community planting (+ possible BBQ) at Sanger Reserve, between Shorts Rd and Lily St for the Merlynston Linear Creek. Plants will be provided, we just need hands!  Exact time to be confirmed.

Sunday May 28th
Community plantings and maintenance day at Merlynston's Upfield Urban Forest sites at Bain Reserve and Ararat Avenue on the Upfield bike path. Times to be confirmed.

And Winter...!

Sunday June 25th
Plantings at Sanger Reserve, between Guilfoyle Ave and Warner St (Merlynston Linear Park). Stay tuned for time.

If you'd like to:
- find out more about any of these events
- be added to the Upfield Urban Forest or Merlynston Linear Park email groups
- add a Merlynston gardening event to the Upfield Urban Forest site

Please let Jane know at jholroyd@gmail.com

Happy planting and tending to the gardens!

Emma.
