Urgent!! Help to fight bad development beside the Merri.
You can help us fight a proposal to build 21 townhouses of 3 or 4 storeys each, on a site in a bend of Merri Creek.
The steep site, in Spry Street, Coburg North, currently has one house. Many of the townhouses would be less than 20 metres from the top of the creek bank, with roofs towering 10-12m above the shared path - the picture is from the developers application. Some balconies are less than 3m from the Creekside open space.
A planning specialist is able to assist us in arguing for a better outcome at the Appeals Tribunal on 11th September. The Friends and local residents have already contributed and are seeking donations to help pay the fees (heavily discounted).
We need to make the best possible case to protect our creek valley from intrusive over-development like this.
