1. Lucy Wise w/ Guest Speaker Anna Seed (Visual Artist) – 14th January
Lucy will soon be releasing her third album, Winter Sun, which explores themes of love, joy and sadness, friendships and the relationships people form with their environment. She is running a crowdfunding campaign to help cover the costs of the album. Check out the campaign and pledge your support here. Anna Seed is an Illustrator living in Melbourne, Australia. Her work is influenced by the nostalgia for her provincial childhood on the Isle of Tasmania. Australian native flora and fauna feature heavily along with sustainable living and a bygone era of mend and make do. Predominantly a traditional media based artist. Anna’s work has sensitivity towards the friendly and relatable characters she creates.
2. Tolka w/ Guest Speaker Bernadette Atkinson (Making Marngrook) – 4th February
The origins of Australian rules football are to be found in the game of Marngrook which was played by Indigenous communities using the Marngrook, a football made from possum skin. Yorta Yorta artist and educator Bernadette Atkinson will talk about the Indigenous history of the game and demonstrate the making of the Marngrook.
3. Zulya & the Children of the Underground w/ Guest Speaker Florian Diguet (Le Cafe Flo) – 18th February
Florian Diguet, a local Cafe owner (Le Cafe Flo) on High St. Thornbury is a talented Chef and well known for his warm presence and the inviting atmosphere in his French Cafe. He will share with us some of his passion for food and hospitality through his years in the industry.
